The nicest hostel in Australia. Clean, comfortable, free breakfast, nice pool, really nice social vibe in the kitchen/living room. The cleanest kitchen I have ever seen in a hostel! The transfers to the bus station were really appreciated too. The staff are all lovely and they put on great tours to see the wallabies at sunrise, waterfall and platypus tour and you can also wakeboard on the lake next door. I had an absolutely amazing stay at the Adventure Lodge in Mackay! The staff were welcoming, and made every effort to ensure my experience was perfect. The transfer from the bus station was seamless and very well-organized.

During my stay, I joined the Sandy Hop Tour, and it was simply outstanding! Our guide, Michelle, was professional and shared so many fascinating insights about the area. Her enthusiasm and knowledge truly made the experience unforgettable.

The two days I spent here were full of excitement, adventure, and unforgettable moments. It’s the perfect place for anyone looking for a thrilling getaway and a chance to explore the beauty of the region!

We had a great 2 days at the lodge. Great modern rooms and bathrooms. The communal kitchen was so clean and had everything you needed.
Our tour guide Ruben was the best, you could tell he loved his job and he was so knowledgeable about the area.
Amanda was also such a great host, she was so attentive, friendly and looked after us all.
Would highly recommend booking a stay here as well as the tour and wakeboarding!

Absolutely amazing stay here. Due to the flooding we were stranded in Mackay, this hostel took us in very last minute (13 girls) and gave us all either a private room or a shared room. All the rooms were ready as soon as we arrived as well as a free breakfast which was amazing. Rooms came with a fresh towel and comfy clean beds. The hotel owner Amanda did everything in her power to make sure we were happy and safe. The common room is lovely and open with sofas and a large smart tv to watch whatever you want as well as a pool outside. |We can’t thank them enough for all the staff have done for us girls!

I had the best time at Mackay Adventure Lodge!! Michelle was an amazing tour guide and couldn’t have done more for us! The trips were bucket list things in Australia🇦🇺🦘 Rooms were so clean and the kitchen was great! Couldn’t recommend Mackay Adventure Lodge more!

Stayed at the Adventure Lodge for 3 nights, but due to the cyclone these were all up in the air. Amanda was amazingly flexible and accommodating, even when I had to change plans the day of due to rapidly changing events, she even kindly drove me to the train station, yet another testament to her kindness, and willingness to go the extra mile.

Whilst there I also did the Platypus walk with Reuben, this was also incredible, and a great day out! We managed to see 4 in the end, even in subpar conditions. Reuben was amazing, making the day even more entertaining with his anecdotes, and knowledge of the area.

Lastly the hostel itself, everything was clean, and functional, from the kitchen to the bathrooms it was all great!

Overall, I’d highly recommend this hostel to anyone who is travelling, and looking to stop in Mackay!

me and my friend needed long term accommodation and we couldn’t have stayed at a nicer place!! everything was perfect. modern rooms, great bathroom, great service. nicer then many hotels i have stayed at. great kitchen, room always cleaned when requested!! staff were all so lovely up for a chat. manager awesome and so helpful! facilities were awesome and pool was great! did not have a single issue when we were there.

Had the best stay here, the rooms were so nice and clean, comfy beds and the best nights sleep. The kitchen is well equipped and the staff are so amazing and lovely, they couldn’t do enough to help us, truly went above and beyond. Both the platypus tour and sunrise with the wallabies were incredible and left right from the accommodation, Michelle was an incredible guide and took us to the best spots! The wake boarding park is right outside and so much fun, the staff were incredible at helping the whole group get the hang of it!
