Kookas Bed & Breakfast - Edge Hill, Queensland

We stayed at Kookas for two nights. We got a warm welcome at arrival with a drink and bringing our bagage to the house on the "hill". The room was large with a good bathroom, airco, coffee and tea facilities. There is a beautiful garden and a pool. There are enough restaurants in the neighbourhood and the centre of Cairns is only 15 minutes by bus. The breakfast was served at the balcony and while we were eating a kookaburra landed next to us. The breakfast was very good with a great chouce of fruit. A perfect stay for a visit to Cairns and only 3 km from the airport.

We booked 7 nights with Marlies and Bruno at Kooka's and enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra 2 days. The location on the edge of Cairns was ideal, with a great view from it's slightly raised location. Our hosts were so helpful and attentive. Breakfast consisted of a variety of tropical fruits,cereals,toast etc. Marlies helped us choose a range of outings. There is a small pool next to the house. A bonus was that a family of Kookaburras came to visit us at breakfast time. Really can't fault this modestly priced holiday location.

A holiday with a difference. This B&B is worlds away from the beach resorts usually associated with North Queensland. Nestled high on the hillside at Edge Hill, possibly the most beautiful suburb of Cairns, and surrounded by lush tropical gardens, breakfast is served overlooking the vast landscape behind the city while kookaburras sit on the railing waiting to be fed. A great walk takes you down the hill to some excellent cafes and restaurants and on to the renowned Botanic Gardens. Mention must be made of Marlies, the owner, whose tireless energy, time and care for her guests knows no limits.|My room on the top level was clean, comfortable, quiet and private.|I loved this place and look forward to returning in the future.

We had a good few days staying here whilst visiting Cairns, handy for the airport, Botanical Gardens and easy access to the city. Well equipped room, nice and quiet for good sleeping and great breakfasts with a fantastic view. Wallaby on the front lawn when we came back from a local restaurant and a good line in pet frogs!

Staying at Marlies and Bruno was really great. Lovely quiet spot with nice views over Cairns. Breakfast was really extraordinary - and so was the hospitality of them.||Recommend the rooms in the back over the one we stayed first in the front building||Highly recommended!

I enjoyed my stay at the Kookas which is run by friendly people who create a personal atmosphere. The room was clean and functional. Breakfast is served on the terrace with a view onto the green landscape and offers quite a range of different components especially a variety of nice fruits.||By car the city center is easily reachable. ||Rosemarie Portner

Great views, a wonderful breakfast and a lovely host. There are a couple of tropical birds that come to visit the owners every day during breakfast - they just stay there, they don't bother the guests or anything. It's charming. The wi-fi is excellent, by far the best connection I've had in a trip. Recommended.
