This was the best stay one could have. Julie and Jesse invited us to their house and shared much more than just an apartment. With their kindness they made our stay in Cairns just great. The pool was awesome! 10 min walk to Botanical gardens and 5 min walk to bus station, which takes you to town in 10-15 min. You could see Julie puts her heart into this b&b.

We came to Cairns for just 2 nights before leaving on a tour around the tablelands. We were given a warm welcome by Julie. The accommodation was perfect. 2 bedrooms and a lovely living area and eating area. But the pool, is the best! We watched double eyed fig parrots in the trees, spotted a white-lipped tree frog and lounged in the most idyllic setting for a pool. In the morning, the breakfasts were fantastic. So much local, delicious fruit, homemade banana bread, delicious granola. ||It felt like we were staying at a favourite aunt and uncles’ home. They treated us like we were family (family that they really liked!). Their hospitality was so warm and welcoming, but never over-bearing or intrusive. ||In our travels, we were in Sydney, Port Douglas, Daintree, Ravenshoe, but hands down, this stay in Cairns, was the BEST. Wished we could’ve stayed there longer. It’s worth visiting Cairns, just to stay here - truly the best B&B experience!

Wished we had more time to stay in this beautiful home.Wonderful hospitality with a stunning pool and landscaping. The seperate guest accommodation on the ground floor was immaculate. The makings for breakfast were left ready. There was a choice of eateries a short walk away and the Botanic Gardens were within walking distance. We had to drop off the car early morning and weren't sure of the traffic arrangements to our surprise Julie did a dry run to check it out for us, we can't thank her enough. A beautiful part of Cairns with older houses nestled at the foot of the hills.

Julie and Jesse have put impressive thought and care into this spacious, airy, tasteful, and private garden apartment. The tropical gardens and pool are beautifully landscaped, and we loved taking our meals on the deck, revelling in the tranquil environment and visiting birdlife. It was wonderful to be able to walk to the Botanic Gardens in less than 10 minutes along quiet, tree lined streets. Edgehill village is a pleasant 5 minute stroll, with a nice little supermarket, bottle shop, and several restaurants including the excellent Thai Samgasat recommended by Julie. The breakfast platter was superb, with a variety of fresh fruits. We didn’t get to use the Weber BBQ but will certainly do so next time. We stayed twice. Once for 2 nights, then for 3 on our return from Burketown when it was great to use the conveniently located washing machine and dryer. We were very comfortable and it felt like a ‘home from home’. Julie & Jesse are friendly and thoughtful hosts who live upstairs. We very much look forward to our next visit and exploring more of Edgehill.

Absolutely the best B&B and also the most hospitable hosts. The immaculate first floor of their beautiful home was ours for our stay (separate entry). The massive bedrooms, spacious bathroom and kitchenette and large living area tastefully decorated/renovated made for a comfortable and relaxing home away from home. The salt water pool in the backyard was framed by gorgeous landscaping and elegant evening lighting ... for the romantic in us all. Big BBQ and rainfall shower added to outdoor vibe. The breakfasts were fresh and plentiful with bottomless French pressed coffee and juice. The use of the washing machine was a bonus as was the chauffeur rides into the hub of Cairns by our gracious hosts. The proximity to the small quiet airport was very convenient (10 mins).||Testament to how much we enjoyed our stay ... after our two day trip to Port Douglas we booked ourselves back into this quant B&B, double exclamation!!||Dane/Dana - Nov 2017|Toronto, Canada

Whilst travelling in Australia we stayed here for two nights, I wish we could have stayed for a month - or longer!||||A spacious, airy floor of a traditional Queensland house, in a quiet residential area, to ourselves, with comfortable beds, a well stocked fridge and a lovely lounge area.||||There's even better to come as you step outside into the breathtaking garden, which is like a clearing in the rain forest, with colourful plants and a blended-in pool to die for, together with comfortable sun-loungers - and you have this peaceful oasis all to yourself!||||Julie is so hospitable, she gave us a lift to the airport to collect our hire car, asked if there was anything we particularly wanted for the fridge, which as well as the usuals had a huge plate of fruit, all delicious and some which I'd never seen before. She just could not do enough for us, making recommendations as to where to visit and eat, even helping us to load our car (I have mobility issues) when we departed. It was only two nights but leaving was like saying goodbye to an old and valued friend.||||If ever we visit Queensland again, we will be back at Galvin's, and for much longer! Trouble is we may never leave....

This was our second stay at Galvin’s Edge B&B (the first being 13 years ago, long before any serious use of social media etc.).|It was exactly how we remembered it with hosts Julie and Jesse as charming as ever and could not do enough for you with nothing being too much trouble.|I could write lots of stuff echoing everyone else’s thoughts on this place but will try and give you a little bit more info, not mentioned.|Firstly, it seems they have everything you need here. Every kind of toiletries are provided if you forgot anything. Maybe if you use it, you’d need to bring conditioner for your hair but they really do have everything else, including toothpaste.|They have a spare adaptor plug for you to use, they have bug spray for you to use. Julie even asked us if there was anything we needed which was not provided.|When you book here, it’s only you and your family who are booked, nobody else. That means it’s exclusive for you during the whole of your stay so if like us you hate crowded places with loads of people, and value your privacy, then this place is it.|When we looked for places to stay during this trip, I didn’t even bother searching anywhere else in Cairns. Having stayed here before, we vowed if ever back in Cairns we would stay again and we fulfilled that promise.|That statement still stands and we will again return when back in Cairns. I just wish Australia was closer to the UK as I’d be here so much more often.|This place would make an ideal honeymoon stay or famous folk could stay here and never be bothered by anyone. It’s that exclusive.|Local amenities are great and plenty places for meals out or takeaways.|It’s around a 7 minute drive to the airport or a 7 minute drive into downtown Cairns. Also a very easy location to get back to the main highways to travel around the surrounding area.|The property is well maintained and the garden and pool area are beautiful.|My advice is do not bother wasting time dithering over where to book, just book here.|Being a small business they only take cash payments but hey, don’t let that put you off because you can get cash at any bank or ATM or like us, we brought enough spare knowing we’d be paying cash. You get a discount if you stay over a certain number of nights too.|Any questions, happy to answer them and have a few more pics too.
