An interesting place to go to. We stayed here for one night. The place itself is really nice and well maintained. Walking around the grounds I see a lot of wasted potential for here. They only have accommodation here now. No functions. There are ghost stories attached to here as well, and there is something or someone here, as I felt something bad. No restaurant here either. The room was clean and tidy with a big shower, lots of room to move around. Definitely a presence in the room I feel. Despite this, I still would recommend going for a nights stay, and a wander around the grounds.

The room was beautifully prepared and smelled fresh, showcasing their keen eye for detail. The shower was impressively spacious. Strolling through the grounds was both refreshing and delightful. It’s easy to see why this place is a popular choice for weddings and other special occasions.

Feedback on Woodlands of Marburg
A blend of impressive aspects and areas for improvement
Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed by the appearance and the well-maintained gardens of Woodlands of Marburg. The serene and peaceful ambiance was a delightful first impression. Our room continued this positive trend with neatness and a very spacious bathroom. The bed was comfortable, allowing to enjoy a restful sleep.
However, there are several areas where improvement is desirable:
• Fridge Light: The fridge light was not working, making it difficult to see inside.
• Room Lighting: The general lighting in the room was insufficient. A lamp in the corner lacked a bulb, and one of the bathroom spotlights was also not operational.
• TV Remote Control: The remote control was fixed with tape, and the batteries needed changing, making it difficult to change channels.
• Continental Breakfast: The breakfast provided during the week should not include foods that are past their "best before" date.
• Wine Pricing: The price for a bottle of wine in the shop was $35, whereas the bottle shop price for the same wine was $16. This markup feels excessive.
• Room Servicing: The rooms were not serviced during our two-night stay, which led to tea and coffee facilities running out. We had to go and ask for supplies, which was inconvenient.
In summary, while Woodlands of Marburg offers a beautiful and tranquil environment with comfortable accommodations, addressing the above issues would greatly enhance the overall guest experience.

Beware if you have a wedding booked currently
We had our wedding booked with Woodlands for April of 2026.

We were sold a boutique wedding experience with an in house chef created 2 course buffet, decor done by a certain supplier.

We noticed late last year, that they had taken weddings off of their webpage, & that the restaurant had shut down.

We personally booked a meeting with the new events team, because we wanted to get some more information on what was going on.

Well the meeting went swimmingly, we were told they had closed the restaurant due to them struggling with Chefs, and were getting a catering company to come in, the excitement in the event planners face when she told me that these caterers can do a “Taco or potato spud bar” this was not at all our vision, and are personally using these caterers for a private function at home, and whilst they make great food, there is definitely a quality difference from them to the food available from the previous restaurant.

We then asked how the venue went from having 40+ rooms available to hire for the night to only 14 & was told that the venue was being used in conjunction with the Wesley mission as a help for homelessness.

Now having the homeless living at the premises isn’t a problem, the problem we had was whilst in this meeting we were interrupted at least 3-4 times by a different person needing assistance from the event planner. I asked how they would mitigate how the people living at the property wouldn’t be walking through our canapés, we were then told we didn’t pay for exclusive use of the property. I understand we didn’t pay for exclusive use, but we also were sold a wedding venue that is used as a boutique hotel.

We ended the meeting feeling deflated & annoyed because the venue also was only going to tell us all this information 6 months out from our wedding day. So if we hadn’t booked this meeting we would be stuck with the venue & these changes.

I personally do not recommend woodlands of Marburg and there management, and would warn you to be wary if you have an upcoming event or wedding with them.

They cancelled our contact because they said that we were aggressive & abusive towards there staff. When we really were only disappointed & assertive.

We will never use the property again, which is a shame, because we always had family stay up there when visiting us.

What was once my dream wedding venue, quickly turned into a nightmare.

We were fortunate to be housed at the Marburg woodlands for 9 months. It is such a beautiful place with many adventures to be had. Large ovals, tennis courts, beautiful gardens, a huge size pool, and so much more. The scenery is stunning year round. The owners and staff are fabulous and lovely people who are extremely caring. I had five kids with myself and we all pleasantly enjoyed our stay.

Amazing place but sadly the restaurant closed recently due to damage. Hopefully it will reopen because it is a fantastic venue with a lot of beautiful things to see. Visit the grotto, it's cool.

This is one of the most gorgeous accomodations I have ever stayed in! The rooms are just beautiful, super quiet and spacious, and the surroundings are stunning. It feels like a very gorgeous dream home away from home. The staff are so lovely also ~ I’ll definitely be retiring here 🙂

Woodlands of Marburg is a stunning and breathtaking venue, perfect for any wedding. No matter what inspiration you're seeking for your big day, Woodlands will accommodate it. We had the option of three beautiful ceremony locations and chose the enchanting chapel, which was decorated beautifully for us, along with our reception area. All of our decorations were included in our package, and having on-site accommodation made travel easy for our out-of-town guests and elderly family members.

The function manager, Sam, and the reception staff were amazing, taking care of every detail and removing the stress from our day. They ensured we were looked after and enjoying ourselves, and any issues or inquiries were promptly handled.

For our wedding photos, we had full access to the venue, and the staff even guided our photographer and videographer to capture the perfect shots. We were absolutely thrilled with how special our day turned out, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of the Woodlands team.
