I really enjoyed my overnight at the Retreat. From the host's very warm welcome to the most comfortable pillows I have slept on, I can't fault this place. And it was lovely to walk into reception and feel like you were in someone's lounge. As cyclists our specific needs were met - e.g. place to store bikes, bottles of water, access to microwave for breakfast. I felt that nothing was too much trouble for the host.

Mixed feelings about Wisemans Retreat. Absolutely stunning area and surroundings. My partner and I played tennis, had a picnic and went on walks. Though I booked an early check in which wasn’t early we didn’t get the key til 1pm, which felt like a waste of $40 extra. The tv wasn’t working and took us a good 10 mins to get it going then we called reception who did attend to the issue in a timely manner. There is no bin in the room apart from a bathroom bin. The beds are very rock solid which caused a bad sleep. You hear everything the room next to you is saying or doing. When a shower is happening in the block of rooms a sound happens that goes throughout and woke me up a few times. Wasn’t very peaceful. I had live cockroaches running through my clothes and on the floor. The shower ceiling and windowsill had dead bugs squished. Seems to of been there for a while
I do believe an update needs to happen on all the rooms. The website does give off a different impression to reality.

It was a nice time though these few things did create some hesitation to returning.

The pictures are not like the reality!!|Everything is dirty and unusable, the palm tree are very dangerous because Dry leaves have fallen on our head, the pool is disgusting and dangerous too, water is a toilet for animals, poo everywhere , bbq is disgusting better I didn’t open to see the cleaning! The tap water in the bathroom was brown! I couldn’t use the shower!|Staff very rude and unfriendly.|180$ for a stable! It's a pig sty.
3 weeks still no cleaner even after asking to have toilet cleaned.
Rubbish out front for 2 weeks.
No facilities.
No cleanliness
No appliances.
U better of camping
Wouldn't even have my dogs stay there.
Don't waste your money here .go to pub their awesome

Our company hosted a corporate retreat and we stayed for 2 nights. We had such a lovely experience! There was so much space for vendors we hired etc. It's also a 2 minute walk to the bowling club and the pub accross the road! Staff were so lovely and so helpful! Would highly recommend.

Be really careful booking Wiseman's Retreat, as they may cancel on you. We booked (7 people) a few weeks ago. We were travelling with 3 other families and another friend. Booked through the website, received our booking confirmations. But we received a phone call this afternoon and they've cancelled on us. No apology, just cancelled. Little bit of a giggle on the end of the phone. If you book, be mindful you may need to find somewhere else to stay.

Management seemed to get a better offer and cancelled my booking weeks after it was made. Not sure that’s a move that will build trust in the travelling public, but by all means you do you guys……………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Firstly, it's a gorgeous spot, right by the river, lots of birdlife, and the grounds are very attractive & well-maintained. Unfortunately downhill from there...the restaurant is closed ( would have been good to know that when booking ) , the rooms are adequate but very spartan & actually quite bare ( nowhere to put your cuppa or takeaway- had to put them on the floor(!) . You have to walk for a pretty ordinary pub meal or a takeaway which is cold by the time you get back to your room. Basically a place with the potential to be really great, but currently sub-standard & way over priced for what you get. Disappointing , won't be back unless there's major upgrade.
