Our stay at Windsor House Walhalla was simply beautiful. The hosts Gaele and Mark were just wonderful. They both made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Gaele told us about the history of the house which is classified by the National Trust. The property has a fascinating past which Gaele explained to us. We stayed in the Aberfeldy suite which was very cosy with its own ensuite and very well presented. The bed linen was fresh and divine to sleep on. The electric blanket kept us warm and snug all night. Gaele prepared a beautiful breakfast with all the trimmings which we really enjoyed. This was served in a lovely dinning lounge room with an open fire place. We were fortunate to stay 2 nights at Windsor House. There was a variety of teas, coffee, biscuits and cake available in the dinning room throughout our stay. We highly recommend staying at this property and enjoying the tranquillity and serenity of Walhalla. We look forward to returning and we thank Gaele and Mark for making it a memorable weekend. Tranquil stay! We absolutely enjoyed our time at Windsor House – one of the most iconic buildings in Walhalla over the long weekend. Gaele and Mark were very nice and friendly hosts who provided top notch services from excellent accommodation to fantastic breakfast. The place attracts a lot of visitors thanks to its beauty and history. We loved the sound of the creek in front of the house and it was so relaxing. The tour of the house seemed to take us back to the early days of the historic town. Our experience at Windsor House was absolutely a highlight of our trip to Walhalla.

We stayed for 1 night in the Aberfeldy Suite and loved every moment. There's so much attention to detail and the house and room were just lovely. The bed was SO comfortable and we slept like logs. Breakfast consisted of both cereal and cooked breakfast options, with a side of history from our welcoming hosts. Windsor House had all the comforts and hospitality we needed while maintaining an authentic old world charm. The pub (only spot to eat in town ~ definitely book) is walking distance but have a torch (or phone) handy if walking in the dark. Located in a great spot for wandering the town and seeing the sights, would definitely recommend and hope to return.

This place has so much potential and we were so looking forward to our stay but this enthusiasm was dashed once we arrived. Our host seemed less than happy with her role and we were greeted with coolness, which had nothing to do the external temperature. |The house is a restored building with lots of history but the mismatched furnishings and poor heating leaves a disappointing impression. |The upstairs shower is gravity fed and the hot water only trickles out, put the cold on and you will be very chilly. The stairs, which are quite steep, have been refurbished so the surface is polished concrete which is problematic as it is slippery, so be careful. The rooms are comfortable but on the small side, however you cannot close the curtains due to the heather placement or complete absence of any blinds. Check your electric blanket, only one side of ours worked. The bed is also very firm. |The guest dining/lounge room is downstairs and again has so much potential - except when the host refuses to light the fire, despite the cold and request of guests at breakfast. The host had clearly been up for a couple of hours prior to breakfast service (the noise travels well) and had plenty of time to light the fire and add some atmosphere and warmth to the room. We wandered downstairs a few minutes early for our allocated breakfast time-slot and planned to have a coffee and relax on the couches, but we were greeted by an admonishment for being early! Not the best way to start the day. Breakfast itself was ok, certainly nothing special. |This same shared room was closed up and dark when we arrived back the previous evening, after dinner, finding the fire out and most lights off, again not welcoming at all. Given there is no tea/coffee facilities in the bedrooms the dining room should be set up and welcoming later than 9pm. We would have happily looked after the fireplace, but we were not allowed to do this either. |This property is up for sale and we hope whoever buys it will give this building and future guests the attention and care they deserve.|I doubt we will stay again. |

Visiting Walhalla is like stepping back in time. You feel like you’re on a movie set and Windsor House is a fantastic place to stay. Impeccably clean and tastefully furnished. The most comfortable bed we’ve slept in during our holiday with premium linen and firm mattress. Gaele and Mark are fantastic hosts and their breakfast was amazing

This is the perfect place to stay in Walhalla. The rooms are comfortable and even though there is a shared bathroom this is not a problem and in fact something that is quite common in Europe. Welcomed warmly by Gaele and Mark it was very relaxing 2 days. Fantastic breakfast is provided and tea, coffee and biscuits available at all times. Great communal lounge with open fire, perfect for a wine or beer in the evening, easy access to all attractions in Walhalla. Will certainly stay here again

We enjoyed our overnight stay at Windsor House. Gaele was lovely and very welcoming, the rooms are beautifully furnished and comfortable, breakfast was delicious. This is a very cosy place to stay for a quiet weekend getaway. The sound of the creek was very relaxing.

Amazing experience and delicious breakfast! We stayed in the Sarah flower room overlooking the front garden. It felt like we had gone back into time. The bed was super comfy and the pillows plush. The place was very clean. We had an issue with the hot water which was promptly and efficiently attended to. Gale and Mark were such gracious hosts they showed us around the house and gave us a brief history. They recommended us where to eat and activities of interest.
