Every year since our 20th wedding anniversary we have been enjoying a romantic weekend away in January to a location not far from Brisbane where we live. In January 2014 we chose Whispers Lakeside Cabins for our 34th anniversary. This was a truly wonderful experience with a great spa on the verandah to enjoy and great lakeside views. A feature on all mornings was waking up to the beautiful sunrises over the lake and on one of the late afternoons there was a pretty good sunset as well. The cabins are very well appointed with everything one needs for a grand home away from home. A novelty for cooking is the electric barbeque on the verandah which we utilized for breakfast each morning. The thing that struck us was enjoying a touch of the beauty of the Australian countryside so close to the city. The cabins are only about 40 minutes drive from the Brisbane CBD. Our stay was a great way to relax and leave the pressures of modern day living behind us and recharge the batteries for the year ahead. The cabins are thoroughly recommended no matter how old you are. However it would be advisable to check first that the nearby Lakeside Raceway is not operating when you want to visit as I feel sure this would dampen the moment. We were free of this on our weekend, for which we were grateful. Contact Queensland Raceways on www.qldraceways.com.au and they should be able to advise.

As the title says we've been here now three times (in the past four years) and will definitely be returning. If you're looking for a quiet romantic get away I highly recommend Whispers, absolutely worth every cent you pay. The rates are very reasonable. The photos tell the story, so relaxing, away from it all yet 5 minutes from a shop to replenish supplies. |Ron is such a nice bloke, very considerate and welcoming. Thank you yet again Ron for a memorable stay at these beautiful cabins. John and I left so relaxed and rechargeabled.

Such a warm, private, wonderful place to retreat with that special person in your life! This was our anniversary & Ron ensured our trip was memorable! The breakfast basket was fantastic, the cottage immaculate. The spas superb! Love it here! Close to nature, lush green surroundings, fireplace to keep you warm at night. Just perfect!

I think all the negative reviews are from the race track fans. Brisbane is growing very fast you can't stop progress. Might have been a good place to have a race track 20/ 30 years ago but I don't believe so these days. I have a noisey v8 for a car. I love cars especially v8s and ive been to a few meets at the track in the last year. Some days especially motor cycle days the noise is loud and annoying. I stay at whispers cabins alot. I find the manager very friendly and a good all round bloke. Beautiful place right on the lake and very peaceful. I highly recommend whispers cabins.

Stayed there many times and absolutely love it. Love the spa on the deck and that view. Was always lucky to have stayed when racing wasn’t on. Delicious breakie, love the ambience of the hot fire stove in winter

Absolutely the best two days we spent together all year . Cabin exceeded our expectations so beautiful , we loved the spa and the peace. So easy to find and had everything we needed. Wish we were still there. Big thanks to Ron, fantastic bloke with a top notch place. Can't recommend highly enough.

Loved the cabin. The only thing disappointing are the amount of intrusive, loud, obnoxious bogans frequenting this area in their POS illegally modified cars... obviously the same sub-humans who felt entitled to write false and malicious reviews for this business owner. It's the anti-social among us that spoil all things pleasant. It's rather unfortunate this bogans paradise has been built in a peaceful area that causes an unacceptable disturbance to the community. The race track should be closed and police need to monitor and punish those in illegal cars to ensure they are removed from the roads and prevented from disturbing others. I'd suggest impounding and crushing their cars is a great first step.

Whispers was a truly relaxing holiday set in beautiful surroundings. We awoke to a Kangaroo just outside the doors twice, a novelty to us English people and also a Koala in the tree. Clean with everything provided for a relaxing stay. Ron was very friendly and helpful.||||We will be back sometime in the near future
