Whileaway Bookshop and Cafe is a unique spot on Macrossan Street. It's nice to order coffee and browse through different books while waiting. Although, sometimes it can feel a bit crowded, with many people dining in and wandering around, especially during peak times.

Having tried both a cappuccino and an iced latte on different occasions, I can say the iced latte was great in taste, size, and price. The cappuccino was pleasant but not a standout in flavour; having gotten their largest size, it was a bit milky, which can sometimes be the case with the largest size. Additionally, my partner and mum love their chai lattes from there and speak highly of it for any chai lovers.

Overall, it's still one of the better takeaway cafe spots in Port Douglas.

I love this place! The staff are so friendly, helpful, and make an effort to remember your name. They have a wide selection of books that stays up to date with whatever is trending and in high demand. They also have aircon which is hard to come by in Port Douglas. In this heat you really can't beat relaxing in the cool aircon with an iced latte, tuna melt, and a good book! 10/10 😊

Whenever we come to Port Douglas we always stop at Whileaway Bookshop Cafe. It is a really good place to get a coffee and something to nibble and browse through the great range of books that they have. Their muffins are particularly good and highly recommended. You can sit outside the cafe and read a book if you would like to relax that way.

I was so excited to check out this bookstore while on holiday in Port Douglas. My children started looking at a few books and were quickly spoken to by staff as if they were mistreating the books. When a second staff member came I decided I was better off spending my money at Target, Big W or Kmart - as they were more concerned with my kids looking at books than helping them find one to buy. So disappointing. No wonder why I’d prefer to spend my money elsewhere. I’ll never go back.

Nice place to enjoy a great coffee and a pastry on a Sunday morning.

In the middle of Port Douglas, on Macrossan Street.

Lots of seating outdoors, under cover and away from the hot noon sun. Also seating indoors for the less adventurous 😁

Coffee was good, and the almond croissant was great !

My favorite morning place! Good ambiance, the matcha is very good and the food in the vitrine is always very enticing and delicious! The superfood brownies are to die for. I’m never disappointed when coming to this place for a little me time. Thank you for the good job done here💕 @yoelipuej

A lovely idea and good coffee. Unfortunately the service could’ve been more welcoming.
I was casually browsing a book at a table whilst drinking coffee, as I thought would be allowed in this cafe, and told by the staff that they “were trying to sell the books” and to be careful with the spine. I immediately replaced the book and left, feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable. This definitely took away from the experience. Perhaps have some books laid out for casual browsing and make it clear to patrons to not look at books for sale to avoid experiences like this.
