It's a nice club, but found the bistro staff pretty unfriendly and the food mediocre. Wouldn't be in a hurry to return unfortunately. 5 stars for the club itself as we were greeted by friendly people in reception, and the club is well appointed but the bistro lets it down.

Wests Cardiff has a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, great facilities and importantly... fantastic schnittys with a generous serving size option. Or if you're not a creature of habit for a schnitty, there's plenty of other meal options as well!

Great hospitality. Lovely surroundings. Great place to eat. Just had one problem, there was one girl who was cleaning the tables and approached me and told me I wasn't able to sleep in the comfy chairs. She didn't give me a chance to say I was tired in between having chemo, that my car was unavailable and we had to be out of our accommodation by 10am. She was very rude.

I haven't had the pleasure of Cardiff Wests before so today my partner and I decided to give it a go.

We enjoyed a lunch, I had the lasagne but it was so garlicky I couldn't eat too much of it. It was so bitter I can still taste it at 9pm !

My partner enjoyed his grilled chicken though, no complaints!

Then we sat on some lovely big "throne" chairs near a window as we had come from a funeral this morning and wanted to decompress with a drink. We were actually having a lovely time until some old bloke came over and- politely - told us we were in his spot and that he sits there everyday because that's where the best internet signal is.

This bloke was actually of the mind to take the chair my bag was on. It was rather rude considering the place was empty and he could have sat anywhere else. We didn't make an issue of it as we were already emotionally overwrought so decided to get a dessert.

We waited as long as the guy who grew a beard waiting for service and when no one appeared we went home. It left a more bitter taste in our mouth than the overly garlicky lasagne. Sorry to say, we probably won't be back which is a shame because the Tex Mex menu loomed really interesting

In recent years, the culinary landscape has evolved dramatically, with diners seeking not only sustenance but also a sensory journey that tantalizes the taste buds and leaves a lasting impression. Sadly, my recent visit to Wests Club has left me disheartened and disillusioned with the state of lunch offerings. As a loyal patron, I had hoped for a gastronomic experience that would elevate my spirits and satisfy my cravings. Instead, what transpired was a lackluster affair that bordered on culinary negligence.

Potato Wedges: A Flavorless Affair
The anticipation of sinking my teeth into crispy, golden potato wedges was met with profound disappointment as I discovered a lack of flavor and seasoning. The potatoes, once promising vessels of culinary delight, were bland and uninspired. The absence of any discernible seasoning left me questioning the competence of the kitchen staff and the commitment of the establishment to culinary excellence. Moreover, the texture was far from ideal, lacking the coveted crunch that defines a well-executed potato wedge.

Honey Prawns: A Sweet Disappointment
As I eagerly awaited the arrival of the honey prawns, my taste buds danced with anticipation, envisioning a delicate balance of sweetness and succulence. However, what arrived at my table was a far cry from the culinary masterpiece I had envisioned. The prawns, devoid of any discernible honey glaze, were disappointingly bland and uninspired. The promised infusion of sweetness was nowhere to be found, leaving me wondering if the kitchen had forgotten to add the key ingredient altogether. Additionally, the prawns themselves lacked freshness, further compounding my dissatisfaction with the meal.

Customer Service: A Lack of Accountability
Compounding my disappointment with the lackluster meal was the woeful lack of accountability demonstrated by the staff at Wests Club. Despite voicing my concerns to the server, I was met with indifference and apathy. Instead of acknowledging the shortcomings of the meal and offering a sincere apology, the staff seemed content to dismiss my concerns with a casual shrug. This lack of accountability speaks volumes about the culture of complacency that pervades the establishment and undermines the trust and loyalty of its patrons.

Conclusion: A Call for Improvement
In conclusion, my experience at Wests Club has left me deeply disillusioned and dissatisfied with the quality of the lunch offerings. The potato wedges lacked flavor and seasoning, while the honey prawns were a sweet disappointment. Furthermore, the lack of accountability demonstrated by the staff only served to exacerbate my frustration. As a loyal patron, I implore the management of Wests Club to take swift and decisive action to address these issues and restore faith in the culinary integrity of the establishment. Only then can Wests Club hope to reclaim its status as a destination for discerning diners seeking a memorable dining experience.
