If you have never been to Walhalla, You have missed visiting the most picturesque and fascinating town in Victoria. A few kilometres of winding road keeps the tour buses away, thank goodness. It's a real, living historic town, and nothing like a "pretend historic tourist attraction" (ie. Sovereign Hill, Ballarat). And only a little further away from the centre if Melbourne.

Beautiful Victorian gold mining town. Recently used as a substitute for Nepal in a Liam Nielsen movie. Highlight is the bagpipes being performed on the walkway above the main street.
