Such a treat.
I loved the experience.
So good and relaxing 😌
Perfect for relaxing after the walk in the mountains.

90 minutes is enough to completely relax and let go.

They have the dry sauna, steam room, hot spa, and a cold pool.

Also soft chairs to relax on.
Just Perfect.

Enough space for upto 4 people.

The only thing to fix is the timber in the sauna. It's old and feels like it's going to break.

We booked the Sanctuary for 2 hours late afternoon - which was magical. The views in the day would be stunning but really enjoyed the nighttime experience. It had been snowing earlier so being in the hot spa with our wine was perfect and you also have a plunge pool and 2 saunas and a shower. Staff were really friendly and we throughly enjoyed our experience.

Beautifully situated spa with peaceful outlook into the pines. The hot tub is really warm (perfect for the cool spring weather and very welcome after a 2-3min plunge in the icy cold water of the plunge pool. The steam room and sauna are exactly what you’d expect. We were glad to have booked the 90min experience as I think 1hr would have felt too quick! Be aware that it is a big step down into and up from both the hot tub and plunge pool so anyone with mobility issues may find it difficult.

The sanctuary was in terrible condition.
This is meant to be a luxury spa but I wouldn’t call it that, kind of more like a health hazard.
There was mould in the steam room, the cold water pool was brown, the sauna spoon was broken and you couldn’t use it to put water on the rocks and there were clumps of hair in the shower.
I’m not sure how this place manages to get away with the poor conditions and quality they provided people

What's up with all these 5 star reviews? Are these all fake or just blind idiots? The douchnoggins rating this place 5 stars need to have their rating privileges removed. I wish I had trusted my gut when reading the low starred reviews.

I guess that now the place is up for sale, no upkeep is being done, but it's also clear that any care about the place stopped a long looooong time ago.

My review is: the "sanctuary" (hot pool, cold pool, steam/dry room) would be okay if you're blind, or just squint lots, that's about it. Or if it cost $50 for 90 minutes, and not $190.

It was a total rip off considering the very poor state of the place, and is therefore a very high price for what it is. Stay away if you were expecting a five star experience, this is far from that.

----------------

The pre-shower in the Sanctuary was grubby and had what looked like mould or scum on the walls.

The hot pool clearly hasn't been cleaned in a good month or two. Ewww. There were many green algae growth rings around the pool at very different water levels. The algae came off with a soft wipe and so there isn't any excuse for this.

We didn't even go into the cold pool as there were pupes floating on the top, and the filter wasn't running. Why would the filter not be running

The steam room smelt funny and had mould or something else yukky all over the inside lower part of the door.

The dry heat room had broken gauges.

The floor tiles had been fixed with the wrong grout colour (white instead of black) right in front of your face when you're in the hot pool. Looked super janky. Some others had been replaced with a different tile, and also using the completely wrong grout colour. Oofff have some respect for your craft tiler person!

The pool tile work must have been done by a drunk apprentice. With a paper bag over their head. While upside down. And with no arms. It looked INCREDIBLY unprofessional.

3 of the 6 hot pool jets were working.

The locker room doors were falling off.

The slippers were made for gnomes. I could get the front half of my big ole European feet in them. That'd be okay if this was in Japan. It ain't in Japan.

The shower in the locker room had the fan vent mounted in a ceiling so crumbly and water damaged, that it looked like it was just about to fall on you.

The front desk lady was nice, although only 1 person covering the whole place, like, what? She wasn't even at the front desk when we left as someone else happened to be in the building, so she was off with them. My wife wanted to complain, but couldn't, because the place was empty of staff, ummm whaaat

If you sell champagne, then you need to know what dry champagne is. That's.... a pretty standard champagne question.

If I pay for 90 minutes, then I don't expect to be "belled out" 5 minutes before my time is up. That's what the time between bookings is for.

The "welcome" stand sign was inexplicably placed directly in front of the entrance/exit door, blocking the middle third of the doorway when we left, so we had to squeeze around it just to get out of the building. Umm what?

Had a shower in the locker room when we finished. Then we had another shower when we got home to clean the remnants of this place off us. And this is coming from someone that had just been a part of the great unwashed camper scene for the last couple of weeks.

2 stars because when I squinted it was okay, and the wine made me feel giggly.

Location and amenities excellent, I used the spa and sauna, will visit again. Facility itself is a bit tired, things like tiling and ceiling in showers starting to fall apart or need a bit of a cleanup. Overall solid when not looking too closely at the finer details.

Nestled in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Waldheim Alpine Spa offers a rejuvenating spa experience surrounded by some of Tasmania’s most stunning landscapes. From the moment I stepped into the spa, I felt an immediate sense of calm—the decor blends seamlessly with the alpine environment, creating an intimate, cozy atmosphere that invites relaxation.

I opted for the Cradle Mountain Escape package, which included a full-body massage and a soak in their private hot tub overlooking the breathtaking wilderness. The therapists were exceptional, blending local ingredients like Tasmanian lavender and eucalyptus into the treatments, creating a sensory experience that felt authentically connected to the landscape. The relaxation lounge, with its crackling fireplace and views of Cradle Mountain, was the perfect spot to unwind after my treatment. Waldheim Alpine Spa is a must for anyone looking to reconnect with nature in luxurious comfort.
