Tropic Sunrise Holiday Units - Cairns North, Queensland

After booking on the net I anticipated a nice, clean unit which would serve the purpose for my families stay in Cairns. We arrived at Tropic Sunrise to be greeted with stairs that were missing tiles and signs saying "DON'T STEP HERE." How were we supposed to get our luggage up the stairs!? When we entered our apartment we found numerous bugs and dirt, a kitchen that was smaller than the bathroom and a room that was outdated and had a terrible musty smell. I decided there was no way I was staying here, and as we were leaving politely told the owner, "Sorry but this just won't do." He became very agitated and began to cause a scene, calling over a cleaner who got quite agressive and mocked me, "Look love when I clean I do a damn good job. Come on and show me what's dirty!" I left before I was subjected to anymore abuse. The five minutes I was at Tropical Sunrise were the worst five minutes of my entire holiday. Please don't believe their glowing website.

Not only was the place in a poor state of repair, but it was hazardous with loose and broken floor tiles, a window that falls out of its frame if you try and close it, and a slimy pool. We ended up out of pocket having to pay a locksmith due to the owners not having keys for the individual bedroom doors within the unit (somehow it is our fault as one of our children closed a door). We also had a child cut their foot open on a broken floor tile. We saw no point in complaining given the attitude of the owner regarding the incident with the door locks.

Stay somewhere else than the Tropic sunrise. This place i stayed in need the new power points they where cracked.so you could not switch on power points.the key to unlock the door kept not unlocking the.Cosidering i had to climb through the window because i could not get anyone in the office to come down and let me in even though the office said open.the man lives upstairs and could see but could not to be bothered to come down.on last day when lock wouldnt open the door to my room he came down finally got it unlocked then said to me you have to just jiggle the lock to finally get it open.by this time i had had enough and said i shouldnt have to do that i paid good money to stay here the lock should work.after i said that he gave me a real creepy look.other people that stayed there where also dissapointed in the place.we both said it is not what we saw when we looked it up on net.||If i could have rated this hotel/studio unit at a minus one or minus two i would have.||Don't be dissapointed like i was for being stuck in this shocking place

We arrived at Tropic Sunrise and were extremely disappointed with the cleanliness, the staff, the overall appearance of the unit.and the property, not at all safe|| We were led to believe the property was 200m from the centre of Cairns, not so, ||We did not stay, in spite of Cairns being very busy we found alternative accommodation.||I repeat do not book, do not stay at this property.
