The lakeside suburb of Toronto has a few good spots to eat, but when the weekend rolls around, The Toronto Hotel is where everyone seems to end up. It’s big - big enough that you’ll probably find a table even on a busy night, but if you don’t feel like taking that gamble, a booking isn’t a bad idea. The Friday night I was there, a jumping castle kept the kids occupied while parents enjoyed dinner and a drink, and the place had a lively buzz with live music.

With no QR code ordering system, you’ll need to line up at the counter - on a busy night, that can mean a slow crawl to the register to order, pay, and then settle in as the kitchen hustles to keep up with demand. If you’ve arrived starving, best to order straight away. On quieter nights, though, it’s hardly an issue.

I went for the Scotch fillet with chips and salad. At $44, it’s nudging into steakhouse pricing, so I was expecting a little more. The steak itself was cooked well, plenty of flavour, but I still felt it didn’t quite justify the price tag. The garlic bread we also ordered was all crunch and no give - not exactly the comforting starter I’d hoped for. There’s a good range of meals on the menu and, from what I saw of the various dishes at other tables, portions were generous and well put together.

All in all, The Toronto Hotel is a solid bet - lively, family-friendly, with good food and plenty of atmosphere. Whether you’re there for a meal, a drink, or just the buzz of a packed night, it delivers.

Great establishment, recently renovated, friendly and professional service.
The kitchen was ready to close upon our arrival, however, we were looked after. Chicken Schnitzel was delightful, served with crunchy chips and salad, super tasty with solid ingredients. I would recommend this establishment for great food and atmosphere.

Popped in for a Sunday lunch. We were told there was a 60 minute wait for food. We decided to wait, mainly because the setting is fabulous and the atmosphere was great. When the food was eventually ready it wasn't great at all. GF burger ... Bun was rock hard, the meat was tasteless and the fries were totally over salted. The mussels were tiny. Six shells were empty and I only found two mussels on the floor of the bowl. The only dish that was passable was the pasta. After such a long wait we were really disappointed. Such a shame that the food didn't hold up in such a great place.

Went for lunch, bad choice. Ordered Chicken Supreme, second bad choice. Menu advertised chicken with braised leeks turned out to be broccolini. Creamy sauce was stone cold making everything else cold. Meal had obviously sat for a while because the sauce had a skin on it when we collected the meal.

We had a fantastic overnight stay at the Toronto Hotel. The location is excellent, offering stunning views that made our stay even more enjoyable. The room was incredibly comfortable, with the best bed I’ve slept on all holidays! The pillows were just right, and the hot shower great. On top of that, the food was really good making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing and comfortable stay!

We booked a large table for 14 to celebrate my daughters 21st. Upon confirming our table closer to the date, they apparently had no record of our booking, so needed to rebook a table.
When we arrived, we looked at the menu and all ordered before the lunchtime rush.
10 of us received meals without a problem and the other 4 people waited over an hour for theirs, despite checking with the kitchen twice!! The 10 of our group were finished and cleaned up by the time the other 4 received theirs! They were absolutely starving!
Shame on the staff who were taking the buzzers and overseeing food with thier "Too bad, how sad!" attitude!
No apology was given, food was cold, lobster spring rolls were still frozen!!
No coffee available either!
Just absolutely shockingly poor service!
No offer of a refund, or an apology, until my sister went up to the counter a THIRD time and demanded a refund! We only got a refund for the cold steak sandwich - nothing else!!
Pull your socks up guys! Speak to your waiters and kitchen staff!!
Your patrons are paying top dollar, and deserve better!

Beautiful renovations, great location, however the food was hit or miss!
We were so excited to give this place a try after the new reno work. I ordered the calamari and chips (which was typical of any pub) while hubby had the lamb cutlets. The lamb cutlets were not only chewy, they smelt bad. Something was not right with them so we sent them back. Service was great and they were really happy to remake, however he received a second plate of the same horrid smelling lamb. It was not edible. We are pretty sure it was either off or due to the size maybe it was mutton, nothing lamb tasting about these. If you are going to sell lamb, make sure it is lamb. Especially for the lamb price tag. We ended up giving it to the dog!
