We had the pleasure of visiting 3 Monkeez Café, one of the busiest and most vibrant cafés in Newcastle — and it definitely lived up to the hype! From the moment we stepped in, the place was buzzing with energy. Despite the crowd, we were lucky to grab a spot upstairs, which gave us a great view of the bustling café below while still being able to enjoy a relaxed meal.

The food? Absolutely on point. We ordered a mix of their standout dishes — a smooth and rich coffee to start, followed by a delicious pancake, a flavour-packed chicken poke bowl, the fun and satisfying Monkey Fry, and their twist on a classic, the Bubble & Squeak Reloaded. Every single dish was served fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. You could really tell the kitchen puts heart into their food.

A huge shoutout to the staff — even with the café packed to the brim, they were friendly, efficient, and kept everything running smoothly. It’s not easy to maintain that level of service in such a busy environment, and they handled it like pros.

Overall: Great food, lively atmosphere, and top-notch service. 3 Monkeez Café is a must-visit when you’re in Newcastle.

This is now my go to Cafe on Darby St. The employee's are so kind, friendly, patient and joyful and the service was exceptional. We sat out the back in the courtyard garden which was nice and peaceful, with good quality seating. I ordered the Avo Smash and omg it was amazing! The slices of sourdough are massive and with generous amount of avocado and eggs your way. We got fried and poached. The beetroot hummus was so fresh and vibrant, the feta was so soft and salty and the seasoning added the perfect touch. I will 100% be coming back for this perfect meal. It was probably the best breakfast ever.

Walked by and the staff were super friendly as we were checking out the menu, so much so that we looped all around Darby st to come back. We sat down near the back with this lovely quiet green atmosphere. Coffe was great! Great vibes and service! And then the chicken chimichanga was banging broo, great value, taste and presentation. 10/10

I was really disappointed with my meal and drink unfortunately. I ordered an iced coffee, no vanilla. The iced coffee arrived at room temperature, and without ice. Wondering if they’d used the milk that sits out to steam for coffees. Pretty upset given the cost of the iced coffee was $9.50 before weekend surcharges. At that price I’d expect an iced coffee arrive cold and with ice in it. I couldn’t drink it, it was a waste of money. The bacon and egg roll was average, bland, nothing ‘smokey’ about the BBQ sauce. In fact, on review of the menu, I don’t think it was even served with BBQ sauce, but a spicy chilli jam maybe? It wasn’t served as listed on the menu, again very disappointed and could not finish the meal. Cost over $75 for 2 people, I’d expect more and better quality food for this. Waitstaff were lovely.

We had breakfast here as a group on a Saturday and were really impressed! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was fantastic—friendly, efficient, and attentive. Our table was regularly checked on and cleared promptly.

Now, the food—absolutely amazing! Generous portion sizes and packed with flavour. I also ordered a side of banana bread, and wow—it was hands down the best I’ve had in ages! Thick, moist, and so delicious.

Highly recommend giving this place a try or making a return visit. Great job, team!

Everything about this place was 5stars! We wish we lived in Newcastle so we could come more often. Service was incredible, even with how busy it was on a Sunday morning. The staff always ensured that while they were constantly busy, they were available to all. The food was so delicious, we had the breakfast burrito and the pancakes- both incredible. Definitely recommend this place!!

Great atmosphere, seating outside, upstairs, and a great courtyard. Service was quick and with a smile. Food tastes as good as it looks. I had the Moroccan Eggs on Thursday. Back again on Saturday to try the Chicken Poke Bowl. It was absolutely delicious. Once again I will be back guys. Keep up the good work😋🙏🙃❤️🙃
