Charter Towers' "The World Theater" is definitely worth a visit. Lovingly restored with many interesting exhibits. But the biggest luck for me was to meet Sue there. Friendly and good-natured, Sue has the knowledge of a true local & generously shares it with visitors. While in the information centre, located next door, you can obtain maps, and brochures as well as get answers to your questions (if you have any), Sue will tell you so much about the town, the area, its history and all the local attractions, that you quickly realise you need a few more days in the area to experience it all. I visited Charter Towers previously but never knew there were so many interesting places & facts about the area. So now, I am planning my next visit based on all the new information, thanks to Sue. The World Theater also has an entertaining program, surprisingly large for such a remote & small place.
P.S. Would be nice if people working in the information centre had at least the 10th of Sue's enthusiasm & volunteered to share local knowledge. (I do not complain, but while pleasant & friendly to the visitors, they are as remote from the visitors as Charter Towers remote from, let's say, New York). Once again I want to thank Sue. She really made my visit to Charter Towers a very pleasant, memorable one.

Beautiful building inside and out and an amazing atmosphere. Will definitely return to see more shows. If you're travelling through charters, I recommend checking to see what's on. You won't be disappointed
