I went to the Wedge Cafe for Saturday brunch today. I am not keen on writing negative reviews but feel the need to do so after today’s unpleasant experience. I was surprised by the high cost of the meals when I looked at the menu. Most menu items were in the mid to high $20. This price is significantly more than I’m used to in Sydney where I have brunch regularly in places ranging from CBD to outer suburb locations. I chose to have the vegie breakfast with scrambled eggs instead of poached eggs which cost $35. The meal came in a bowl with sloppy scrambled eggs and all the contents swimming in a bowl of egg and mushroom juice. Yuk! The hash brown I added became very soggy and unpalatable and the mushrooms were similar. The sloppy scrambled eggs were the worst scrambled eggs I have had in years. They were reminiscent of old institution style (read: military Mess) scrambled eggs, not something for which I was paying a premium price. I had to be very careful not to splash juice on my clothes while trying to extricate the food items from the inappropriate bowl in which the cafe served the food. The waiter taking my payment asked me in the usual way if I was happy with the food. Of course I said that I wasn’t and why but his response was an offhand ‘oh, that’s the way we always serve our food’. I suspect that he did not pass on my disappointment. I have eaten brunch at this cafe a few years ago on another trip to Sale and was very happy with the food and price then. However, I will not be returning to this cafe in the future and suggest you avoid it too. There are plenty of alternative cafes here in Sale with its affluent and well paid inhabitants and transients.

Excellent regional theatre. We are fortunate to be very on the route for the professional companies that tour Victoria. This theatre serves them and their audiences well.
Also the venue for many local amateur productions.
And to cap it all off, a great place for dining is incorporated in the front of the building.
