The Good: Let’s start with the positives. Vernon Cafe is hands down my work local, and I’ve been a loyal customer for years—sometimes even twice a day! Jake and George are absolute legends. The banter is top-notch, and I love that I can walk in and just say “good morning” without needing to explain my coffee order. They’ve got it memorized, down to the staff’s drinks too, and they’re always willing to make something special off-menu if they’ve got the ingredients. It’s that personal touch that makes all the difference, especially when they prioritize my coffee during their busiest times.

The Room for Improvement: Honestly, I can’t think of much to improve here. The only downside is when I’m away from work and have to go without my Vernon Cafe fix—nothing else quite compares!

Would I Return? Well, I never left! Vernon Cafe is the place I go to for not just great coffee, but a sense of loyalty and community. I’m always looking forward to my next cup!

I stopped by for a coffee and tried the carrot cake.

Coffee was perfect temperature, and carrot cake was fresh and not overly sweet which is good but I wouldn't say it was a standout.

There is a bathroom up the stairs despite other reviews saying there isn't one.

Service was quick and friendly although others reported a dissimilar experience.

Locals hung out there and had a friendly vibe.

George , Jake and the team served best coffee. None of the coffee beat as theirs and service is superb! It is hard when I go away not able to get their coffee!

I can only assume it's a Woollahra thing, but the service is horrendous - like laughably bad. The last 3 times I've been it was meant to open at 7am, but at 7:15am there was still no one there and the place was closed and in total darkness. When the owner did eventually turn up he'd just walk past us customers all waiting (at least 5 people), and his staff also waiting.. without a single word or acknowledgement. Not a smile, or good morning, or sorry I'm late. And same when he iwas finally ready and you walk in to order. I guess his saving grace is that the coffee is good. But honestly after 3 times of this happening I wouldn't rush back.

The coffee is excellent. They roast their own bean and that’s a strong marker for some caffeine passion.

I'm by no means The Vernon's biggest customer, just dropping in every couple of weeks for some beans. But the coffee is so good that I go out of my way to get it here. The staff are friendly and the space is cosy, a great place to hang out.

I absolutely love Vernon! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm, inviting atmosphere and the friendly long term staff who know exactly what your order is. The coffee is consistently outstanding—perfectly brewed with rich, smooth flavors that never disappoint.
The food, pastries and snacks are fresh, delicious.
If you’re a coffee lover (or just love great service and a great vibe), is a must-visit. Highly recommend!
