What an Excellent surprise, walked in for a drink ended up staying for a few drinks along with lunch. Nice selection of wine, beer nice and cold. Ordered a seafood basket,which the chef was happy to alter the dish,Excellent mackerel grilled, also ordered the grilled bugs ..Excellent!!!! Full of flavour and plump in size...This place based on outstanding service from the young ladies at the bar to the chef, internal decor and overall atmosphere with absolute nice music playing outside is the epitamy of what I find attracting to Townsville.I take my hat off to all the staff who played in today's effort to make our Visit most enjoyable.Congratulations...will be back !!!

I tried the 300g rump steak, but it was overcooked, and the fries tasted like cold McDonald’s fries. The fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. The salad dressing felt industrial. Lovely atmosphere and good service, but the food won’t bring us back.

Stayed at the hotel upstairs so this was an easy choice for meals. Food was consistently incredible and pricing is standard for the sizes. Best hot chips in town!
Atmosphere was always comfortable and we all felt welcomed as we entered.
All staff were fantastic but Damian was an absolute highlight and made sure to take care of us the many times we visited.
Was genuinely sad to leave town after dining here. Will definitely come back if I am ever up north again!

DO NOT EAT HERE!
Oysters K = tinned smoked Oyster, with a couple of cubes of bacon. Eye fillet chips and veg = minute steak, maccas fries and lettuce covered In pickled red onion. You people are kidding yourselves. $118 for that garbage

5 Stars is not enough to rate the Metropole, we hired function room for a 40th, the staff were absolutely amazing, they couldn't do enough to cater to our requirements. We ordered food for the function which was incredible and fairly priced. Abby the functions co-ordinator is down to earth and did a great job from start to end. Credit to you mate. The venue is fresh, modern after recent renovations. We could not recommend this venue enough! Thanks to everyone at the Metropole. Job well done guys 😉

Beautiful old pub that has been given a new lease on life. The interiors are stunning and create a really fun, fresh experience. The food has been excellent both times we’ve dined here since it re-opened. The perfect spot for a long lunch. Can’t wait to sit out on the alfresco under the umbrellas when the weather cools down. Such a great addition to Palmer Street. We will be back a lot!

We came on a busy Sunday and there was some miscommunication about whether we had a table booked but the manger on duty and one of the servers were so incredibly helpful and brought us a table since my elderly grandmother couldn’t sit at the high tops and they were just so accommodating. Amazing service, good food. 10/10 would recommend and return.
