Amazing property in the centre of Stratford. Rooms are away from the road which is pretty quiet so you won’t be disturbed by traffic going past all day. The rooms are light and spacious with a large communal area and kitchen with plenty of fridge and storage space for cooking meals. If you are needing to stay somewhere for a longer period of time then this place is the perfect environment with everything that you need close by. The farmer’s market is around a 20-minute walk from the property and anything further than that can be easily accessed by Uber which is pretty cheap around here. The bus stop taking you into town is only a 2 minute walk. Definity check out the red and yellow arrow trail if you have time while in Cairns, about a 40-minute walk from Lilybank. Can also do a walk around the Botanical gardens which leads onto the trail. The pool is a stand out feature for me which has been used every day since I have arrived. The water temperature is perfect this time of year and you can lose hours relaxing in the pool that is part covered by a canopy, which is definitely needed on those hot days. The perfect place to stay while you are visiting cairns. Will be back after my trip to Sydney!

The most beautiful place to stay when we arrived to Cairns from the UK!

The bedrooms are spacious, clean and tidy and so are the private en-suites. There are plenty of communal areas such as the large kitchen, indoor living area with sofas and an outdoor area by the swimming pool. Each bedroom is also allocated a private outdoor space which is nice too.

Felicity the owner is such a lovely lady who helped us organise a few things once we’d arrived.

There’s a stand with lots of attraction information if you’re looking for things to do and the other people staying in the house are super helpful with things like that too!

In terms on transport, Ubers are easily accessible as the LilyBank is fairly close to the airport. There’s a bus stop approx. 1 minute walk down the road to get the bus into Cairns City which costs around $3.

I highly recommend this lovely place.

This place has an interesting history and the charm of an older but well kept home. I wondered at why there were so many rooms and learned it was built for a family with 17 children! The rooms were clean and comfortable and breakfast was an actual breakfast! The hostess was friendly and very helpful. Despite being on a main road it is set back and was very quiet. There is a nice swimming pool and there are hourly buses into Cairns. More ideal if you have a car but we found that most tours accommodated pick ups here. There is an excellent Thai restaurant about a 10 minute walk and another in a hotel just slightly further. If I ever am lucky enough to visit Cairns again (from HI) I would stay here in a flash!

We stopped downstairs. It was great although external light did shine through Fanlight glass insert above door. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Spacious with everything included. Complimentary continental breakfast was a nice surprise. Parking on site. Pool area was leafy and green sheltered from main road. Would stop here again as convenient and saves drive into busy Cairns city. Leafy superb close to restaurant and Hotel.....walk/drive. Not a hotel. A bit of old Cairns like we remember it.

Lilybank is a hidden gem close to the city without the inner city vibe. This open spacious beautiful Queenslander makes you feel the comfort of home with a private feel. Linda takes pride in this place and you can tell with the beautiful decor and well kept grounds. The pool area is such a tropical escape with a feel you are in the jungle. Serene and peaceful. The rooms are clean and comes with accommodation that makes you feel at home. Debb the care taker is super friendly and always there to help if need be. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants the tropical escape but yet close to the city.

My partner and I went on holiday in Port Douglas. Due to a really early 6am flight in Cairns, we decided we would stay in Cairns on our last night to be closer to the airport. I called the Lilybank Guest House to see if we could book a room such short notice, Jeanette was very friendly and helpful over the phone and it was a hassle-free booking. She was flexible with check-in times and even offered for us to leave our bags there if we arrived early so we could walk around without lugging around 2 large suitcases. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and payment was hassle-free. Jeanette even booked us a taxi to take us to the airport at 4:30am the next day! The room was quaint but perfect for an over night stay. The room was equipped with a folder full of information including a WiFi password, amenities that were available such as towels/mozzie coils/bug spray/pool facilities. In this folder there was also information on nearby stores, restaurants, etc. with menus attached. This also included bus timetables/schedules and where to go. A very pleasant experience. The house is beautiful and picturesque.

Our main reason to choose this place was distance to airport, since we had an early flight. Note that it's just barely faster to the airport from here than from some more central Cairns places. Place itself was nice and very well equipped: from orange juice to board games and a nice pool: this place offers all sorts of gimmicks. The owner was a bit grumpy due to a situation during the previous night, but still made us a special breakfast since we left early. Rooms are slightly outdated but work very well and are as clean as they come. All in all a good place to stay, but looking back we would have stayed more central to Cairns.
