The Executive, Newcastle - New Lambton, New South Wales

Me and my two friends stayed at the Executive Inn in Newcastle last month.
The cleanliness was very poor. The first room we were given hadn’t been vacuumed and the toilet and bathroom was dirty.
We were given a new room but housekeeping came a total of 3 times in the 5 days we stayed there. All 3 times I had to call housekeeping myself. They would clean all neighbouring rooms on our floor without being asked. Even then, our beds were never made.
On our last day there we requested to have our beds made and were met with incredibly disrespectful behaviour. When trying to discuss this with reception staff later they dismissed our concerns and did not offer an apology. When trying to explain that these behaviours throughout our stay appeared to be directed and discriminatory, we were again dismissed.

We did however have some staff who were incredibly kind and helped us kill the cockroach (please see attached pictures) in our room that was feasting on the rotting apple left by a previous guest and also missed by housekeeping. We really appreciated your prompt and calm response to the situation.

However, the overall experience was marred by poor cleanliness, demeaning and racist staff, and unprofessional behavior from management. I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Beautiful clean room. Fantastic food at the bistro. Super friendly concierge and very reasonable rate for the size of the room. Great twin shower bathroom. Cannot fault and will definitely stay again if in the area!

Really disappointed both pools had no water in them and nothing was said when made booking as I my daughter was very let down when she could not swim. There was a spa but to many people in there. Also only 1 lift working main lift in the lobby. Car parking they said to park in the hotel car park but no parkes left after checking in so I had to park ks away from hotel and having to carry my bags all the way and a child.

Won't be staying there again very disappointed.

Some of the reception staff were difficult to understand and not very pleasant.
The hotel is generally a bit tired with one of our beds in 208 sagged in the middle.
The Club bistro was very good.

Hotel Rooms: OUTDATED

Reception Staff: Rude / Grumpy not enjoying being at work obviously they treat you like lower class citizens. Ask a question and get a sigh or blunt answer

Breakfast Staff: Rude and need to take a step back and stop yelling at people for no reason. Even after my encounter I witnessed the same Staff member I had a problem with treat an old lady so poorly that she made the lady feel like asking a question was the worst thing in the world. And when the lady asked the Staff member to unlock the door to exit the terrace she told her to use the stairs instead. Absolutely disgusting attitudes in this hotel.

Cleanliness: DOESNT EXIST. Rooms filty and dusty. Room service trays scattered through the hallways for hours and no one seems to take pride in there job.

I'm glad I was only staying here for a work trip as I would never return nor recommend this hotel to anyone. Honestly this wouldn't even be a last resort option I would rather sleep in my car than this hotel.

I could go on with more issues but it just makes me frustrated writing this so ill just leave it at that! For a hotel connected to West leagues club you would expect a higher standard.

Friendly staff. Beautiful reception.|BUT as soon as you walk into the lifts, the smell of alcohol and smoke, wow, and why would you put carpet in lifts? The walls need a lighter colour, not appealing, the carpets need to be removed, as they are absorbing the stench, and floorboards added everywhere, including the rooms. The place is so run down. It felt dingy and very pub like. There were empty drinking glasses left near the stairs, taking maze trips to get to reception. |Wow, walking into the room, OMG, disgusting on another level. I killed 2 cockroaches at night whilst couldn't sleep on the horrible bed and sofa, pillows were uncomfortable, i need a massage to alleviate my neck strain and headache. Had to keep my suitcase and other belongings off the floor. |The noise level at 2am in the morning of people banging on doors and echoing. Wow, all that money spent for one night and taking deposits and licence details thinking I will gamble in that place, no chance! Would rather drive up 3 hours than stay at the NOT Executive Inn.

On arrival the lady on the desk made me feel small. I forgot about the security deposit, when she said she needed a bond i explained that i had physical cash not money on my card. She repeatedly told me to just transfer some money. After several attempts to explain i cant make money appear in my bank she settled for a lesser amount that i had on my card. We checked in and she gave a card and walked off. We wandered through doors which we believed was the way to our room only to be told by another guest how to get to my room. We exit the lift on the 3rd floor and there is a meal tray on the ground to greet us. The room was nice but very dusty, we checked out the following morning to discover the same tray still sitting there by the lift. Overall i would not rebook. On a plus side the pub up the road has amazing food and great service.

Upon arrival we checked in and we were given our access key card. We arrived in our room only to meet an uncleaned and on tidy room eventhough we arrived 2 hours pass our check in time. We had to go back to the reception to inform them.
To make things up to fix our previous day’s experience we were offered an executive which was very neat and clean and very spacious for my kids to move around.
I appreciate this effort made by the team and I will be returning again with my family
