Gavin is the perfect host, and owner of this magnificent establishment. Full credit to those with foresight to restore these historic buildings so we can enjoy them as generations before us did. Everything was excellent, right down to him providing our personal choice for milk and bread for breakfast. Great bed and shower. Would highly recommend to anyone travelling to this area, to stay here, just minutes walk from the mine, where we spent a fascinating 2 hours exploring all the exhibits. Many good wineries within 15-20 minutes drive as well.

A recent overnight stay at "The Exchange Hotel" in Beaconsfield was an utter delight for myself and family, which included a lively 6 year old grandson.
Gavin greeted us warmly, showed us to our beautiful rooms and explained everything we needed to know about our stay. The hotel has such a wonderful atmosphere, with its grand staircase, well-proportioned elegantly refurbished rooms, and spotless bathrooms. All the charm of a by-gone era!
I highly recommend this hotel to travellers seeking a place to stay in and around Beaconsfield. Handy to restaurants and local attractions, a charming host and a taste of true local hospitality. πŸ˜ƒ
P.S. Thank you Gavin for babysitting whilst I had a quick shower. 😘

A really lovely place to stay. Renovated beautifully keeping in time with the period. Comfortable bed and room with all the modern conveniences. Beautiful Bathroom a few short steps away. Lovely thick towels and continental breakfast added to a nice comfortable stay. Was spotlessly clean and so quiet I slept all night after a long tiring day. The host was also lovely and offered some info on the history of the building.

We were wowed by this place. The exterior and interior made us feel like we're going back in time (in a good way). This is a 150 year old (or so) hotel and the owners took great care to conserve that feeling. It's still modern and has all the amenities though.
The bottom suite is... spacious is not the word. It's huge!
The interior design is also amazing.
Gavin the owner was very nice and gracious and we had a great time chatting with him.
The place is very minutes from the seahorse farm which is lovely, and from the mine & heritage centre which is a must.

If you ever land or fly out of or just driving by Launceston do yourself a favour and stay at the Exchange hotel.
I have never seen such warmth love and attention to details, including the most soft and comfy towels ❀️
Gavin is one heck of a person. So lovely, friendly and helpful.
We had only one night there and we are definitely coming back.
If you really want to spoil yourself take the downstairs suit - it's Huge.
I truly envy you if you go thereπŸ˜„
Ask Gavin about restaurants and attractions around, he knows the best places.
I swear I am not a family member or a friend πŸ˜„ I am nearly a new fan 🫢

A perfect two night getaway with my partner; the people who run the BnB style hotel are lovely and accommodating. Our queen size room was beautifully decorated with sizable en-suite (including a deep self standing bath!). I love that breakfast is self serve and the collection of teas were vast and excellent. Great location and amazing stay - I’m sure i’ll be back and would recommend it to anyone traveling that way!

A fabulous period hotel. Beautifully furnished and appointed. Great bar with very interesting memorabilia. Breakfast is self serve and a great way to start the day. Close to the Beaconsfield Mine Museum. 30 minutes from Launceston and a good location to explore the Tamar region. Gavin an excellent host.

If I could give it more stars I would. Fantastic, period hotel with all the modern cons. We had the large suite downstairs and everything was spot on. Comfy bed, great period furniture with a large modern ensuite. Thursday night they have a local food van out the back. You can sit in the bar with your food, enjoy a drink and soak up the atmosphere. Hosts are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Love this place.
