It's been a long-held dream of mine to stay at the iconic Carrington Hotel, and I'm thrilled to say it was an
absolutely lovely experience!
My two-night stay was everything | hoped for and more.

The service was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff went above and beyond, personally checking in with us to ensure all our needs were met. Any requests we had were attended to promptly, making us feel incredibly well-cared for throughout our stay.

This wonderful experience has solidified our plans: we ladies will definitely be making this an annual visit! ( and already booked for next year 2026 😊)

Just finished up a visit to Australia with a few days in Katoomba. The Carrington Hotel was a perfect place to stay, as it was the center of town. I was a little nervous to stay in an older hotel in a foreign country, but I shouldn't have been - the air unit was controllable and worked well, there were plenty of outlets around the room and bathroom, the wifi worked well, the gorgeous tile bathroom floors were even heated! The staff were fantastic and so helpful. The beds were ultra-comfortable, which was so nice after hours and hours of hiking, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. We are "maximize every minute" travelers so we did not spend a ton of time in the hotel itself, but this was definitely the kind of hotel that you could wander around, explore all of the amazing details, and just relax in. They had tile work, stained glass, historic photos, custom carved furniture, vintage travel posters (my favorite!), so many lovely rooms to sit in, comfortable couches and sitting chairs everywhere. I wish we could have spent more time here! Of note, we brought our five year old daughter along and found it to be accommodating and welcoming of children, even as a historic hotel. I would love to visit in the spring or summer with the gardens in bloom & spend more time soaking it all in!

Excellent location, plenty within walking distance. Able to book reservations for dinner or lunch. Very clean amenities and easy to access. Great water pressure and temperature in shower. Laundry access was crucial for us. Loved the security lock down as it felt very safe throughout. Love walking to shops nearby, and enjoying the rich history of entire site. Stayed in Suite with King and rollaway bed, nice and out of way for foot traffic. Loved the room with pool tables and games and library. Was easy to go to grocery next door too. ||Surprised that they gave us a gift for holidays. What an amazing experience!||Easy garage in & out if you have your own car, but so much nearby and public transit then maybe a good idea to leave it behind anyway.

Beautiful old world charm, very clean, the room was amazing walk-in shower and with huge bath. The staff were amazing, very helpful regarding places to visit. So close to the main street, and an assortment of cuisines is available. I highly recommend the authentic Italian restaurant across the road. BOOKING is a must. The onsite dining at the Carrington at night was very disappointing, really just pub food at an exorbitant price, drink prices were way over the top, $20.00 for a Corona.

We came to look at this lovely, old fashioned hotel. It looks wonderful and it is nice to know that the owner is putting in to keeping it as lovely as it is.
We decided to eat lunch in the bar area. Friendly staff, did ask about the cake of the day ,the staff were not aware and tried to find out, it would have been nice if I would have just been informed when they found out instead of me having to ask again. The club sandwich was tasty and my partner enjoyed the soup.
The toilets were clean.
The hotel looks amazing.

We have just had a fabulous stay at the Carrington with 2 dear friends from the UK on their first visit to Australia.
The hotel is just beautiful and the service was excellent, from our first encounter with Tinker at Reception. The gorgeous Colonial rooms were wonderful, with all amenities required available. There were many great spaces (lounges, verandas) to relax and enjoy conversation and refreshments.
There is secure undercover parking.
We had a fabulous dinner in the Bistro and an amazing breakfast in the Grand Dining Room.
At the front of the hotel are buses to all the famous destinations and Katoomba St has many interesting sights and antique stores.
The hotel itself is steeped in history and has been lovingly restored and decorated accordingly. You could literally spend hours walking around the beautiful sitting rooms.
🌟🤗 It is obvious that the staff love working there. They are helpful, polite and very enthusiastic.
It also has special memories for me, as my parents had their honeymoon there in 1953.
Thanks to the team for a wonderful stay, we’ll be back very soon 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I loved staying here, the service was amazing! Me, my husband and 3 children stayed here 3 times in the past 3 years! Excellent family room, cleanest hotel bathroom I've seen! Amazing carpet design and comfortable beds, stairs were creaky and the elevator was not too big, but it's old, so never mind that! Amazing food and piano music! Kindest staff and amazing lookout places and fun places nearby! Thank you to the kind staff that work here! And my parents came for a stay in 1946 (I think that was when, some time around that)

You can see the full video review on my Youtube channel|@travel.stay.explore||Stayed for 2 nights in one of the premier rooms on the 2nd floor at the front of the property. ||Hotel is dated as you'd expect and you certainly get the feeling of how grand it must have been back in the day. Sadly its a bit tired and worn today. ||The Room was a good size with an excellent view. However with it being at the front of the hotel the sun was on the front for most of the day requiring the blinds to be close to try and keep the room cool. There was no air con in the room, only and old fan plugged into an extension lead. ||Furniture in the room was dated and well worn. Damp marks and cracked plaster around the plasters beam in the room. ||Bed was comfortable and bedding clean though. No noticeable noise from outside the room. ||Bathroom was big and a surprise, it was done really nicely. Big shower, wash basin, mirror and toilet. ||Great location in the heart of Katoomba. Easy walking distance to restaurants and the view points/scenic world. ||Plenty of free secure parking as well at the hotel. ||Free breakfast was decent and a good start to the day in the grand ballroom. ||The hotel works on its location but dont expect to much from the rooms.
