On a cold winter's morning, we saw the open fire burning brightly, and we're so glad we walked in. The breakfasts are beautifully presented, delicious and well priced. The staff friendly. The decor welcoming and relaxing. Loved it!

Great place to catch up with friends and enjoy a nice time. The view is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxed, and everything was very clean. The service was excellent — the staff were super friendly and made us feel really welcome. The food was okay, and there was a 10% surcharge because it was the weekend, but overall, it was a good experience thanks to the great service.

The Boatbuilders Yard is the perfect spot to soak up the Melbourne sun with beautiful waterfront views and a relaxed, vibrant vibe. Tucked right on the edge of the Yarra at South Wharf, it’s easily one of the most scenic venues to enjoy a casual meal or drinks with friends.

We visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon for lunch and drinks, and it couldn’t have been more ideal. The outdoor area is spacious and well laid out — perfect for groups, celebrations, or just a laid-back weekend catch-up. With the water glistening nearby and the buzz of the crowd around us, the setting was truly unmatched.

I started with the Iron Barque cocktail, a smooth and balanced mix of whiskey and marmalade — refreshing with just the right kick. For food, we went for two share plates: the Charred Baby Octopus and Spiced Lamb Ribs. The octopus was the standout for me — perfectly charred, tender, and served with crispy potatoes that took the flavour up a notch. The lamb ribs were equally satisfying, rich in flavour and beautifully seasoned.

For mains, we shared the Fish Burger, which came with a side of hot chips. The fish fillet was moist, crispy on the outside, and full of flavour — a well-executed classic that hit the spot.

Service was excellent throughout — friendly, prompt, and attentive without being intrusive. The staff really added to the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Overall, The Boatbuilders Yard is a place I’ll definitely be returning to. Great food, top-notch service, and a stunning location that’s hard to beat.

This is one of several large scale pub & restaurants situated along the South Wharf. They have a large indoor and outdoor seating area and offer a menu of Aussie dishes along with beer, wine, spirits and cocktails. Order at the bar and give table number, food and drinks will be brought out to your table.

We recently grabbed a riverside table and had a pretty nice dinner at The Boatbuilders Yard. Salt & Pepper Calamari was just fine. Adobo Lamb was a nice main shared between us. Lamb was tender with good flavour, paired well with the charred cauliflower puree and roasted sweet potatoes. Sticky date pudding finished off a pretty good meal at The Boatbuilders Yard.

We liked our casual dinner at this riverside pub. Good views and environs, friendly and timely service, prices reasonable and on the whole pretty good food. Would be fine eating here again and would gladly return for a round of drinks as well.

Food was brilliant, I had the lamb shoulder, highly recommend.
I love that you can just sit down at an unreserved table and order straight from a QR code when you’re ready, no waiting for someone, same goes when you’re ready to order more drinks. All on the QR.

Food was good not exceptional. Got seated along the board walk, the view was amazing. Would recommend some lighting for the tables outside the restaurant as it got too dark and could not see our food on the table. Service was good.

Was walking by and thought I would try, as hungry. I had the mushrooms croquettes and they are excellent. Service by very nice, polite people. 🙂
