The best hotel in Walgett!! we have stayed a couple of times now and while it's a 8-minute drive out of town it's so worth it. The beds are comfy, yes the bathrooms are a little run-down but I would rather comfort over a bathroom needing to be updated. You have 2 water bottles that they provide and also the small milk containers for in-room coffee. Our room was clean and the air conditioning cool/hot works very well. The only downfall. The bathroom window. You can't shut it and in the middle of winter, the bathroom is freezing to walk into, especially during the night and when you wake up on a 0-degree morning. That is the only negative I can give this cabin-style hotel. It's perfectly quiet, the scenery is so tranquil and I just love it. We haven't used the restaurant that is attached to it because I am not sure if it even is open but for an overnight stay, it didn't bother us. TV is fantastic with so much variety. I would stay here again and again. The staff are also very friendly and approachable.

We had read some pretty bad reviews however thought we would try it given the apparent lack of alternatives in the area. The website has some serious issues (some of the room descriptions actually come up as a description of the font used in the website rather than anything about the room) and the functionality of seeing availability didn’t work - the website looked very dodgy. I emailed and had no reply. I also called several times to no reply. I finally got through to what sounded like an offshore call centre (I could be wrong) and was pushed to give a credit card as quickly as possible - it was a heavy sell and I had already been told there were many rooms available. The repeated focus on getting my credit card details over answering any questions was unusual given the many other country hotels we had stayed at in the last week. We declined and decided to take our chances and to our surprise found several other suitable accommodations along the highway that are not on the big booking sites. ||I still feel like we dodged a bullet.||I suggest the hotel fix their website and provide training to their reception staff if it was genuinely their staff member I was speaking with.

Best accommodation in the area. Booking over the phone was quick and efficient and after hour check in was very easy. We stayed in a family room which had 3 beds with extras like fridge and kettle & microwave. The area was nice and quiet, and each building only had 2 to 3 rooms which made it even more enjoyable. I accidentally left one of my belongings and they sent it to my address promptly. Great service!!

Let me break this up into 2 parts. |The Goods:- Absolutely delicious food. I had the crumbed Camembert for entrée, the Cabonara for main and the apple pie for dessert. All delicious (apple pie overpriced for the size of it though). Staff were friendly. I liked the lay out of The Barwon Inn, log cabins of an acreage, best describes it. Comfy bed, good air con unit, heated room well. Quiet location approx 7 minutes out of town. Felt safe. Car park right outside your room. The cabin was neat and clean and spacious. Nice area t take a morning or afternoon walk. Sunrise at your front door.||The not so goods:- Mosquitos! Loads of them all in my room. You cant close the bathroom window, so bathroom was cold, wasn't happy sitting on a wet toilet seat first thing in the morning. Must keep bathroom door shut due to bugs and cold (sign there asking you too as well). The main door lock is not working properly, I opened the door from the inside, went to my car, came back and it'd locked me out. The bathroom needs a major renovation & the bath towels were old, ripped (see pics). broken glass and tiles, extreme stains from what I imagine is bore water?. But that can be cleaned. Needs a new shower curtain.||I would recommend this accommodation, definitely recommend the food. And I would stay here again.

If I could give this place slightly more than a 2 I would but I don't think it is worth a 3 so that is why my rating is low as this wasn't what we were expecting and a fairly average experience overall. In all fairness the owner is attempting to fix these cabins up eventually but the one we had was very old and run down. The only good thing was that the beds were good which was a bonus. The bathroom needed some TLC and the worst part was we didn't have any drinking water. The owner only provided 2 x 600ml bottles of water for our overnight stay. When we asked for more the owner provided us with 2 more 600ml bottles but I think we should have been told about this problem before we arrived. We understand that the floods had impacted the water tanks for the property and therefore there was no drinking water but when we booked, we should have been told this fact. We were unprepared and I feel this could have been relayed to us beforehand. The fact it was only $140 per night was a bonus because it was definitely not worth any more than that.

We really enjoyed our three night stay. The very friendly Managers went above and beyond to welcome and ensure we had everything we needed.

Rooms were super clean, and we had Dinner in the Bistro twice, meals were quick and very nice.

It seemed alot of allied health and construction workers stay here.

Friendly safe space to stay, would recommend for if you heading to walgett to stay here - we will stay again when we return.

Pretty spot to relax. Rooms need updating.
But, I did enjoy my stay in a log cabin.

I’m very satisfied with the room. It is nice and quiet compared to the motels in town (Walgett). Plenty of space and clean rooms. The owner and employees are super nice, helpful and kind.
Just a friendly reminder that cellular service might not be the best (depends on the hardware you’re using, fine with flagship phones). Basically it’s the outback so no complaints at all.
