Just ate at this quaint little restaurant right on the beach. As you can imagine, the views are excellent across the Gulf of Carpentaria and all the food was fresh and professionally executed. The Oysters were simply fantastic and needed mentioning. The only slight blip, the service could have been a little more efficient but we'd highly recommend this place tucked away at the back of a hotel/chalet arrangement.

Incredibly rude staff. Told us she was “too busy” to answer the phone to take a table booking. We showed up in person to book a table and weren’t even given common decency of eye contact when spoken to, only still to be told she is “too busy”.
Word of advice for owner/manager would be to get a job that isn’t in customer service or hospitality. Utterly shocked by the rudeness.

Great alternative to the next door Sunset Bar (also 5star) to watch the sunset. Smaller, more personal and table service! Nice tapas menu and restaurant style mains.

Food was great, service was difficult, not a great experience sadly. told to leave our table by a tour guide when my other half was held up trying to pay the bill. Hope things improve because you have a great food setting and wine. Btw I never put up neg reviews .

Was slow for service.
Very expensive. After paying $175 for the 2 of us walked away hungry. 3 tapers and 4 drinks. Should have stayed at the pub. Half price and would have walked away satisfied.
Never again 😒

What a find!!!.
We stayed in the motel and thought we would try the cafe, not expecting a lot, given the location.
We were blown away. Chef Paddy is doing a spectacular job, serving food that would put most city retaurants to shame. The food is fresh, flavorsome and extrememly well prepared, not to mention the sunset view. We would happily pass through the pub next door to pay a little more for such oustanding food in such a fine location

I've visited Karumba many times and always eaten at the Sunset Hotel...never again (not because its bad but because this place is just great!). The tapas menu looks ambitious but they completely nailed it. Had a chance to chat to the chef earlier and confirmed the seafood is local and fresh - and it certainly was. Had the fish ceviche, salmon croquettes and crocodile popcorn (shared because the portions are generous) to start and then the fresh seafood marinara for the main. Fantastic. Rest of the group had pizza, scallops and an awesome sushi platter. If you come up here you have to try this place. And don't get me started on the sunsets...
