Tamworth City Motel - South Tamworth, New South Wales

Arrived at Tamworth City Motel, if it wasn’t for google maps we would have drove past as their sign has faded. First impressions were, run down & grounds untidy. A matter of fact greeting on arrival at reception. We were surprised to be advised a continental breakfast was included. The room was old, nothing like the advertised photos. They had sprayed a funky smelling freshener in the room that was horrible on opening the door. The carpet tiles are not laid properly & stuck up in places. I will say the linen, bedding & towels were fresh & clean however when I hung my wet towel on the towel rack the rack fell off the wall. We advised reception but they didn’t seem to care. We paid for two nights but had an unplanned situation & had to leave the following day, we advised reception of this immediately on the afternoon we’d checked in, she would not commit to providing a refund for one night saying she had to speak to the owner later that afternoon but she would let us know in the morning at breakfast. Continental breakfast was minimal however quite enough. Reception advised only when we asked that she hadn’t had a chance to speak to the manager, we ask to speak to him & were advised he was ‘sleeping’, this was about 9 am! She provided us with the motels business card, email & phone number to follow up the refund situation. Sadly we have heard nothing from them even after emailing them twice & trying to phone but they do not answer. We will never stay at this motel again & would not recommend this motel either.

I have stayed here few times, and last night rooms are clean, comfy beds. Customer greeting could be more friendlier, and in the morning it seemed an effort for the guy at reception to want to talk when.i advised an.issue with toilet bowl. Breakfast was included thos was a bonus.ither than this its a great budget room priced well..

Rooms Very Poor Standards.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the man at the front desk. When I arrived the first room offered there had torn and jaggered carpet pieces tacked to the floor with exposed staples. The second room didn’t have linen to cover the bed base. Definitely not what was advertised in the photos. Pool was cloudy green.

Upon asking what the cancellation and refund process was he shouted it was nothing to do with him and left reception and go to a back room.

I called Booking.com while standing in reception to ask the procedure. She said she would need to speak to the manager of the hotel to approve refund.

He returned to reception as the lady returned to my call saying he was extremely rude and hung up on her.

I said he was right here with me now however he still said he wasn’t responsible for refunding.

This is when he then got even more abusive and demanded I leave and stop talking to him.

While I was trying to complete my phone call with Booking.com he started yelling at me to get out.

Extremely abusive behaviour and completely unprofessional.

Stayed here for one night, was told i couldn't pay cash without prior arrangements, was then charged a credit card service fee of 1.5%. I told them they couldn't charge a fee if they refuse cash. He said his legal team would contact me. Later I phoned him from the room and asked for the name and phone number of his legal team. He said if I paid cash he would reverse the credit card charge. I said that's what i wanted to do in the first place and you wouldn't let me. I then paid cash.
Room was comfortable, however the reverse cycle aircon didn't work, i looked at the filters and they looked like they had never been cleaned, they were so thick with grime.
A small electric heater barely kept the room warm.
Breakfast was a bonus and sufficient for us.

Had agreat stay here whilst in town doing some work for Vision Christian Media (88.0FM and 1611AM). The room was tidy and the bed VERY comfortable. The continental breakfast was amazing with so many food options plus a great indoor play area for the little one! Highly recommend this place.

Had the misfortune of staying at this Motel, the Guy on reception is rude, unfriendly, ignorant, and lazy.

Apart from the the rooms weren’t too bad, but I will not stay here again because of the unpleasant reception.

We only stayed 1 night and travelled with a dog and a toddler. The room was squishy for us, but if it is just you and a partner, it would be fine. Included in the price was continental breakfast which was a pretty good spread. The dining space was quite nice and well maintained.
