Stayed here for a concert, and that was a huge mistake. The place itself is filthy, there’s a “fridge” at the waiting area downstairs that smells like de@d rats, the staff are so not welcoming. The hallway carpet is stained with all this black stuff, probably from not being cleaned for a long time. There’s only one toilet that was working on our floor, we didn’t get to shower, the room smells like it hasn’t been opened in ages, the windows don’t have any locks & the beddings aren’t neat.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

The hostel is run by new staff who are really kind and ready to help you. You can see that they are doing a lot of work to renovate it and give it a new life with a lot of love ?
Excellent and rich breakfast ?
Hot and clean showers with all the necessary products.

If you search a hostel in Sydney, run with love and passion and also cheap this is the right one for you!

I can't express how gross and dirty I felt staying here. When I checked in the reception said nothing to me except looked up from his phone said wait 10 minutes. Incredibly unprofessional and a red flag from the start. I got to my room which has mold on the mattresses, suspicious yellow stains, and blood on the floor. I asked for another mattress pad and the reception was annoyed that I bothered him. I wish I stayed literally anywhere else. I've stayed in hostels around the world this is by far the worst. Cockroaches and mold everywhere. Genuinely confused how they are still legally allowed to operate.

I had a truly terrible experience at Sydney Central Backpackers. I paid $200 for a night, and it was a complete waste of money. The rooms were disgustingly smelly, and I couldn't breathe properly. To make matters worse, it didn't feel safe at all. The windows were broken, which is a serious security concern.

The overall cleanliness of the place was appalling. Mould was everywhere, and I even spotted bugs in my room. It was like a nightmare. The kitchen, which is usually an essential part of a backpacker's hostel, was a disaster. It was a mess, with dirt and clutter everywhere.

I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to think twice and look for better options in Sydney. This was one of the worst accommodations I've ever experienced, and it's not worth the money or the risk to your health and safety.

Only good thing about this place is where it’s located.

Everything is terrible.

Dead cockroaches in the halls, mice/rats, stained carpets in your rooms, barely any cutlery, staff are useless and unhelpful, a funny smell everywhere, vending machine steals your money and the shower rooms are dirty.

It may be cheap, but it’s not even worth the low price. If you value cleanliness and comfort, you wouldn’t stay here willingly.

I stay at different hostels every week for one night. So far, this one is the worst of them all. When I went there to check in, the reception said I had to wait for 20 minutes, even though there weren't any guests at the reception. Also, he demanded my passport when I was showing my valid picture ID. In the mail they sent me, it's been said that I can bring either passport or ID. His attitude was the worst. He said I have to go home and bring my passport. Why would I book a room if my home was nearby And he gave me a damp blanket. Another thing that disgusted me was the bad smell. There is a bad smell everywhere in this hostel, the hallway, and room, especially the bathroom. I've noticed a few mold in my room and cockroaches in the bathroom.

Do NOT stay here, this place is incredibly unhygienic with mice, cockroaches and black mould in every room including the kitchen. There was vomit left in the bathroom and hallway for the whole 5 day period I stayed there. I got incredibly ill during my stay there. I would rather sleep on the streets than go back. And for the same price you can find much better hostels even more central to Sydney

What an absolutely disgusting hostel, walk in after the 2pm check in time and am told I need to wait another 15 minutes while the two front desk workers sit and have a conversation. Finally check in go to the room and it is disgusting, I don’t think I’ve ever seen in a room this dirty, cramped and gross. Literal rubbish on the floors, stains on mattress, stench in the air and beds so tight together you’d practically have to step on top of someone to get to the upper bunk. Im sure a lot of people will be drawn here by the low price like I was, don’t come here! Just pay a bit more money and stay somewhere nicer, this place is a dump. Of course they have a no refund policy but I don’t hate myself so I took one look at the room for about ten minutes and walked out and canceled. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
