Wow wow clean and fresh and great staff !!! Obviously this hotel has had a major freshen up . Rooms light and bright , heated floor tiles in the bathroom ! The Staff…. from the oversnow drivers, guest services, Stilwell hotel cafe and cleaning staff are friendly and make great coffee and the chairlift is right there . Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here Thankyou .

The hotel is in an amazing location close to the great Mt Kisciusko walk. The room I stayed in was very basic and the hotel looks very run down and in need of an uplift. What staff were there were friendly enough and knowledgeable. The room was lacking comfort really although the bed I slept in was extremely comfortable and the best feature by a long way. The nightly tariff was just worth it but I definitely wouldnt pay big bucks to stay during the snow season unless it was improved.

Given the location I was expecting great things. Sadly, it was average at best. The rooms may have had a new coat of paint & plantation shutters, and the bed was ok for comfort (pillows flat), but otherwise it was like staying at an expensive backpackers. The bathroom was old & tiny, with a step-up plastic-based shower, no bench space at the vanity, & one towel rail. The food was also very average, especially the breakfast 'buffet', which gave no option for tea/coffee- you had pay extra for this. The staff however were lovely- thank you!!
It's a great location, especially over the ski season, but not somewhere I'd ever stay again.

My husband and I ordered a small cappuccino each.
They had been out of full cream milk!
The girl brought two different cups one smaller than the other, one white one coloured, no saucers.
The coffee was very weak, luke warm. The cost $ 7 per cup!!! - originally we wanted to eat something for lunch, but that was enough. Nothing to have before 11.30 anyway!
Have been here in February, nothing to complain about!

Bathroom was small and dated, but the room and the bed were ok. Could really do with a small fridge in the room. Other facilities in the hotel were unavailable (spa, drying room, gym etc), and the 'quiet room' (which had a fridge where you might store a few small items) was awful and very smelly.
This place is saved by the staff, who were wonderful, and the food (Quinoa salad) was surprisingly fantastic! ?

As others have noted, it’s all fairly basic but still ok for a hiking base for a long weekend. For a few dollars I reckon they could replace the balcony chairs! More importantly, I think the balconies need to be assessed by a structural engineer - massive liability issue.

Stayed to hike the Kosciusko summit and main range. Very good value in a stunning location. The friendliest staff ever made it a great stay.

Room ultra-basic but clean tidy and comfortable. Sound from guests coming and going in corridor would be an issue at busy times if noise sensitive, but other than that no issues to report.
I had dinner each night from the hotel's in house restaurant, Athol the chef makes the best burger (seriously good) and one does need fuel after a big day on the mountain! No option to cook in your room and no fridge, so bear that in mind when planning your stay.
Thanks to the Stillwell crew, had a brilliant time there. Perfect base for a hiking trip. Will come back for sure.

We just had lunch. A simple menu but it’s easy & quick to serve. Indoor and outdoor eating areas. A nice place to stop after enjoying Charlotte Pass.
