Thank you to the staff and management at Stillwater Seven. I had a lovely stay and the guest amenities, quality of the furnishings and fittings were outstanding. The pantry provisions were extremely generous and the thoughtful touches much appreciated. Great location central to everything in Launceston. Highly recommend when you need a great place to stay in Launceston. Probably the stairs were a little challenging LOL, but of course I managed with the help of great staff.

Great first experience at Stillwater dined for lunch. Starting with the service this was outstanding staff were very attentive. Lovely location and atmosphere. We started with the bread delicious. Highly recommend the croquettes perfect 👌 Mains were good but tad on salty side with the fish and chip option. The desserts were outstanding particularly the panacotta and very nice coffee to end the meal. Recommend a visit for sure !!

We absolutely loved our stay here- the attention to detail in every way was wonderful. We enjoyed the cabinet full local treats and beverages to try, as well as the lux toiletries. Our room looked out over the lake and each morning, and we woke up to lovely fresh fruit juices and flat whites. The real treat was coming back to the attached restaurant for dinner and drinks after spending time out on various walks. We enjoyed the vibrant food, bright cocktails and especially the service. Stillwater has a natural hospitality that allows you to truly relax- we would happily return and highly recommend.

We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Ji (Jiawon), who went above and beyond in every aspect of her role.
She was incredibly informed about the menu, offering detailed and thoughtful recommendations for both food and drinks. Her service was prompt, polite, and seamless; we never once had to ask for anything twice, and her attention to detail was outstanding.
We ordered a 2 and 3 course dinner and every aspect of our meals were outstanding. My companion is a chef, so believe me when I say all the items we sampled were delicious!
The location is very convenient and the atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming, uncrowded and stylish.
We will be back!

Stillwater Restaurant, Launceston

We had a truly memorable dining experience at Stillwater. The set-price menu with a choose-your-own-adventure approach was clever, well-structured, and made the evening feel relaxed but refined.

Each course was beautifully presented and packed with flavour—the attention to detail was evident in every bite. The oyster starter was simple yet elegant, and the mains (we had two different cuts of beef) were absolutely superb—tender, balanced, and satisfying.

The wine list was strong, service was spot on, and the staff were warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to chat with. And of course, we can’t forget the hilarious artwork in the bathrooms—it’s worth a visit just for that surprise!

If you’re after a high-quality dining experience in Launceston with creativity, charm, and a relaxed edge, Stillwater is a must.

Our first night in Launceston after a very long drive from Hobart, we decided to treat ourselves to a nice meal at Stillwater. We were greeted warmly and led to our table, where our wonderful server took phenomenal care of us through the meal.

Thankfully, I read in many of the reviews that the portions are quite large here so we opted to do one snack to start and 2 courses each (entree+main, main+dessert). This still ended up being quite a lot of food so skip lunch and come very hungry.

We started with the black lip abalone ($35), which was super delicious. The abalone was incredibly fresh and simply dressed. This was one of the best abalone dishes we've ever had.

I don't recall what my entree was, but I think it was a seared blue fin tuna. Again, it was quite simply dressed to really let the tuna shine and all of the components really worked to bring out the flavor of the tuna. I loved the textural contrast provided by the seaweed chips and the crunchy cucumber pickles.

For our two mains, we opted for the wallaby (because why not - we're in Tassie) and the lamb rump, both of which were cooked to absolute perfection. The lamb rump was tender and flavorful without the overpowering gaminess that lamb can sometimes have and the wallaby.. well we have no point of comparison since it was our first time, but it was also really delicious. Reminded us of something between beef and venison, but was so delicious!

To wrap up, we shared my wife's dessert, the carmelised honey parfait, which they brought out with a candle for her birthday. By this point, we were quite full, but we still finished every bite of this.

Throughout the meal, our water was topped up continuously and we were asked if we wanted additional glasses of wine once we were nearing the bottom of the current glass. The explanation of the dishes as well as sourcing of the ingredients was clear and really showcased what Stillwater is all about - highlighting the phenomenal products available in Tasmania. I really cannot recommend Stillwater highly enough.

On top of that, they also have an EV charger. It is a bit awkwardly placed, but as you enter the small driveway leading behind the restaurant, there's one charger immediately on the left attached to the exterior of the restaurant. It is a 3-phase / 15A - so not the fastest, but you can get a decent charge in while you enjoy your meal.

We dined at the restaurant for dinner based on positive reviews. The interior was lovely. While the food quality was good, it wasn't exceptional. Considering the price point, it unfortunately did not meet our expectations but could be improved. Definitely worth a visit while in Launceston 😊
