Southern Gateway Centre is located on the southbound of M1 before descending into Wollongong.

The vintage point offers a birdseye view of the city below. A platform on the eastern side is the best place for photos. There is an information centre, an cafe/restaurant and a gelato shop. Public toilets are available inside.

There are plenty of parking spots but it can be surprisingly busy.

Hiltop area near the road. Awesome view of the whole city from here is clear. There’s an Aussie cafe which was good, we tried mocha. Overall for a journey it can be a good rest stop.

Breath taking view ,
Make sure you check the route on the gps when arriving,
Lots of quick turns , one way , and intersections,
Bit confused , might end up at the bottom of the water front and come all the way back up ,,

what a lovely lookout point. overlooking the ocean and Wollongong. ample parking.

however, my experience was tarnished by staff at the cafe that was incredibly dismissive and rude. after I found that they provide halal food, I was so excited to try it! I didn't know about it prior. However, I saw they advertised it on the menu. With excitement , I was trying to order some breakfast, but unfortunately, the chef wasn't in yet. this was 9.30 am. I was absolutely fine with this, but the guy was so rude about it for no reason?
