Shaun is an amazing host. Did our washing and put it out for us!| Super helpful and friendly. Great breakfast. We stayed in the family room which everything we needed. The b and b is quirky ( in a good way) and fun. Cosy nights outside with a roaring fire drinking wine and beer. I definitely would recommend coming here and will certainly be back. Thank you Shaun for a wonderful stay ?

We had the 4 person butterfly room. The room is rather small for 4 people but we coped. It was very clean and beds comfortable. It was a bit odd that in a 4px room there was not 4 of everything to eat with. The only 4 was cutlery and wine glasses, there should be 4 of each crockery. Location is quiet but unfortunately our room being next to gravel driveway we were woken at 5am by someone driving out, just dozed and they came in again at 6am and out again at 7am. It was a big white delivery van.

We actually had the bungalow out the back of the property.||Spacious to say the least, with full Kitchen facilities and Laundry.||Beds were comfy, enjoyed our stay. Shower area needs a little work and a possible upgrade.||Short drive to the main part of town, and would stay there again.

Good choice for two couples or a family. Good sized 2 bedroom unit. Bathroom with laundry. Gas heating was able to heat all the rooms.
Good kitchen. Spacious lounge.
Town is small so really not a long distance to anywhere.

I had booked and paid upfront for one night accommodation for myself & husband. I hurt my knee and ended up in hospital. I emailed Shaun 9 days before my booking explaining about my knee & being in hospital asking if I could defer my booking for 5 weeks hoping I’d have enough time for my knee to heal. Not only would Shaun not defer my booking but emailed me the following (cut & pasted from his email):

“We would not survive if we allowed everyone to cancel and simply move there booking two months on. There is no hotel in the world that would approve what you asked, yet you expect a small outback business to do so.”

So Shaun not only would allow me to change the date or offer a refund but kept the $143 I paid upfront.
Considering I also contacted St George, Coonabarabran and Goondiwindi and they were more than happy to defer my booking goes to show there are other hotels in the world who understand accidents can happen - what a stupid comment Shaun!
As I couldn’t comment on the accommodation wether it was good or bad Shaun’s greed and pathetic customer service turned me off Sonja’s B&B.

Great location with only a 5 minute drive into town, the room was clean and well maintained, shout-out to Shaun for being super helpful, friendly and having great communication with us while we were there. We stayed 2 nights and got upgraded to a larger room than the one we booked, thank you 🙂

Very cosy well-run little place at the edge of town, having said that town is very small so the edge is not far from everything else and it’s nice to be away from the main road.

Excellent value for money, very friendly owners, would recommend getting the granny flat out the back coz it’s the cutest.

This is where we will stay if we return to Lightning Ridge.
