Sofitel Sydney Wentworth - Sydney, New South Wales

We have previously stayed at the Wentworth and always enjoyed our stay. However, our last visit before the most recent one found a hotel which was tired and in dire need of updating. We recently stayed in Sydney and decided to have a look at the renovations made to the Wentworth. In a word: brilliant. The foyer oozes sophistication and yet is still very welcoming. Our room was modern and the spaces lighter and more welcoming. The bed, as always, was great to sleep in. Our room gave us access to the lounge, which looked fantastic and was very comfy with all its improvements. The breakfast, afternoon tea and canapes on offer were elevated again from what had previously been a wonderfully broad selection. ||We ate at Tilda, which I would strongly recommend to anyone staying at the Wentworth. The food was excellent, and the sides were just as good as our mains. We also had drinks with friends at the Wentworth Bar on level five, which has been transformed into an amazing meeting space, making optimal use of the level five open area. ||The one element which remained constant was the exemplary commitment to service by the Sofitel Wentworth Team. Our welcome back was genuine and made us feel as if we had only been here just yesterday. Overall, an outstanding stay - we will definitely be back when we're next in Sydney.

Good located hotel, we had a decent higher floor room sizewise good with all that is needed. Had access to the lounge which was quite good for the evening service with very good food and drinks. Likewise breakfast in the lounge is nice but breakfast in the normal area is great as well. Nice bar on the 5 floor for drinks. Overall quite good.

First time after renovations completed. I was impressed. Front door staff welcomed us and asked if we needed assistance with luggage. Next 3 types of check in and check out 1. Self serve 2. Staff assist at desk to the left of the lifts. 3. Which we used check in as club members on 5th floor. The decor of reception area and the bar and restaurant were fantastic. Had a drink in the bar and staff very friendly and accommodating. Check in on level 5 was professional and welcoming. It was so good to see Ali Josephine and Joao. The club breakfast was similar to before - excellent the afternoon tea more special with chef specialties besides the normal scones, pancakes, sandwiches roles, cheeses, fruit and mini cakes these was the gateaux/cheese cake different each day the evening now includes a chef served carvery. The Club Lounge now has age restrictions of 12 and over after 5pm which is in line with other Sofitel Clubs lounges. Met beautiful Ellena and server Angie on our last afternoon and morning. The staff are plentiful with excellent training on service and interest customer service and warmth. Our room 1630 a prestige suite - beautiful with seperate shower and bath. Had a wonderful stay and Sofitel Wentworth has definitely ticked all the boxes for a 5 star hotel

This was a great place to stay, ideally located. The foyer was welcoming and self-check-in function was very smooth. I really appreciated the overall aesthetic of the hotel and room. The one place you do feel the age of the hotel is in the bathroom with its quirky "round" design feeling well worn and toilet seat that didn't match the toilet shape (odd). I only have two criticisms, 1) the carpark was full so we were forced to search for alternative parking in the area which set me back $135 for the night, and 2) the room had that lingering smell of once being a smokers room. It permeated everything to the point where even clothing I had but hadn't worn, smelt like cigarettes. As an ex-smoker I found this very noticeable and think this should be addressed. I would stay here again but would hope to get a room that doesn't smell like an old ashtray.

Unfortunately, this is a five star hotel that doesn’t feel like one. There is a self service check in and a very average looking lobby. The hotel has apparently been renovated but it did not show from the room. The wardrobe did not open fully because of a bench seat directly in its path. There was an extremely narrow door leading into a tired looking bathroom. And, the room was dark and a very odd shape, thanks to the horseshoe configuration of the building. The breakfast buffet was very, very average and the service was good at best. For the price point, this is not a great choice if you want a proper five star hotel.

I recently had 17 rooms booked, and the hotel would not help to move them even with a couple of weeks' notice.

The Staff is a mix of knowledgeable people and others who don't speak much English and don't know where any local things are.

The room whilst bice is old and the shower leaked into the floor outside the shower soaking the carpet

On the positive side, the bar staff were friendly and accommodating, as was the breakfast team. What an amazing buffet

We enjoyed a wonderful few days here. The suite was spacious, spotless and very quiet. An upgrade, dessert tray and wine made our wedding anniversary extra special. The staff are readily available and very helpful.

Improvement is very noticeable…..service is very attentive, ambience understated but appealing.||Enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch at Delta Rue however this restaurant wasn’t open again until Tuesday. Only other option was fine Dining at Tilda. The hotel needs other alternatives for those who stay Sunday/ Monday….especially if you want to use your All Accor discounts.||||
