While the miner's cottage had a somewhat hidden driveway as it was set at the back of a 2 cottage block, it was positioned in a quiet area with a lovely front verandah equipped with a BBQ. The main bedroom had a very comfortable queen bed and the second bedroom had 3 single beds in bunks with one having a double bed underneath. Lounge room had a large lounge suited to a family size group. Kitchen had a dishwasher with the bathroom/laundry having full washing machine and dryer. While the ad for the property said there was a spa bath, it was actually an old deep long claw bath which was great for a relaxing soak. Unfortunately the resprayed surface of the bath had been partially scrubbed off revealing the original surface in places. The cottage had amazing high ceilings which helped keep the property very cool and give a feeling of spaciousness. The air conditioning was the evaporative cooling system which was effective but very noisy due to the old console.

All things are relative and this accommodation had all i could ask for after days in a tent in the outback. Fantastic location near the center of town. A lovely generous shower to wash off the red dirt - yes! a hairdryer. A washing machine, clothes rack and dryer to do the same with our clothes. Warmth..... we were travelling in winter to see the wildflowers after the recent rain. Room to move (up stairs or down). Free WiFi so i could catch up with business, post my adventures to Facebook, organize the beautiful photos of the Sturt Desert Pea blooming on the roadside not far out of town. A fully equipped kitchen. Two TV's - one so i could watch from bed. And all the extras like tea and coffee, soap powder, body wash. There are only two things we could fault (and i really don't want to but i know proprietors sometimes read these reviews). The dishes in the kitchen needed to be washed before we could use them and the reverse cycle air conditioner downstairs was really rattly - Nit picking all things considered. I love this place and feel sure after our stay we will be ready for more time in the tent! Oh and reasonably priced to boot!

We are corporate travellers who need a home away from home when we are away for 3 weeks and we got it. |My husband works for a prominent bank and for us to be together I travel with him. We have probably higher demands than the average traveller and we are also probably more qualified judges. From the moment we drove down the long driveway we were surprised by the seclusion of this property in this big town. The gardens are beautiful and were perfect for our dog. The inside we found a huge eat in kitchen that has every utensil. I have baked cakes and done a roast whilst staying here. The oven is great and the dishwasher works fantastic. The lounge has a massive tv with a dvd player. The couch is fantastic and so comfortable. There was a second bedroom which had a set of single bunks and one which had a single at the top and a double at the bottom. It would be great fot kids. The main bedroom has the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on. Which makes a huge change from what most rentals offer. |Rebecca was helpful with the booking and as this was a corporate booking there was a lot more involved than just booking and paying a deposit. The quality of mica 1 rental is definitely a cut above the rest. As previously stated a 3week stay is a long time to be in a rental that is uncomfortable this is far from it. Our criteria for a superb rental is a comfortable bed, comfortable lounge and equipped kitchen. This ticked all the boxes with the bonus of a washer and dryer and stunning gardens and wifi (just remember stone cottage so try kitchen for best results) We would recommend anyone to stay here and we will definitely ring Rebecca if we have to come back to work again.

Similar to other reviewers i went to the Mica St address first and then to the Blende St address. I found no one at either so called and was given the access code to our town house. |Our first impression was that the unit hadn't been cleaned or checked properly and definitely not vacuumed. Underwear from previous tenants in the drawers and the clothes dryer crammed full with wet towels (10), bath mats, tea towels etc. |Despite these initial hiccups we found the town house to be modern, very comfortable and very well equipped and only a short drive to everything in the city area. The 3 of us enjoyed staying there and would stay again however if all 8 beds were used there would be a line up for the bathroom as the small mirror above the hand basin was the only one in the house. With improved booking information and more detail with cleaning this property would deserve a higher rating.

Accomodation was spotless and full of character. The yard was large and beautifully kept - the verandah was agreat place to sit and have a cup of tea. Kids were rapt with the TV in their room, the great bunks and the bonus of the x-box. The linen was lovely and the place was the perfect size for 2 adults and 2 kids - plenty of space. We walked into town easily for dinner both nights and loved the quiet central location. Also loved not to have to worry about having a key. Great stay!

We stayed for 6 nights in 1 of the Mica st cottages, as i'm from Broken Hill I knew what we were getting and so there were no surprises. It was a great house for us being fully contained, we had family over everyday so the bbq & outdoor area was great with the beautifully maintained yard, there is even a wii and xbox for you kids.||Now the downside is the staff need to be abit more empathetic, I dealt with a girl called Rebecca & when i called to confirm some details about the house prior to our trip we both realised i hadn't put down my 10yr old daughter and at that time i also mentioned my 12yr old sister wanted to stay for couple of nights as well. ||We paid $1000 for 6nights and when we realised my mistake she was more concerned about charging us another $150 for the girls. If they were adults i would completely understand. But too bad if we were a family of 4 like most & it's not like there was daily housekeeping.||So we were told even though it's a 2 bedroom house that sleeps upto 8 people we were not to go in the second bedroom! When we got there the bathroom had an over powering smell of mouldy water so we had to spray everyday and leave the bathroom window open which had no fly screen covering on it. ||There were cob webs and dust hanging off of the lights in the lounge room, and then the sign with the rules that stated we had to vacuum ourselves before leaving, which is fine i didn't mind. But the vacuum was a cordless with absolutely no suction at all, it was tangled full of hair & only moved the dirt around even after i emptied it myself. ||The broom broke as soon as my partner tried to use it & the sign that stated they have the right to enter the house whenever they feel like it if they think the split systems have been left on made me extremely uneasy throughout the trip.||Seems to me they are more concerned about reaping benefits of profit then caring their about customer service skills. Hope they can learn better business ethics in the future.

I was recommended to Mica 1 and must admit I was a little disappointed.||It was clean warm and had a comfortable lounge and flat screen t.v. The bedroom had a comfy bed and good linen but a damaged broken Venetian blind to the small window could do with being removed. ||The kitchen is well equiped but we couldn't get the oven to work(no instructions)||The bathroom has washer & dryer but the paint peeling of off the bath was of putting.||Outside,opening and closing the gate with a heavy steel chain to drive in/out was a nuisance and the grounds not very tidy.||Mica 1 really does need a bit of loving care it could be so much more.

The property is close to the centre of Broken Hill within a 15 minute walk to restaurants and the main street. Very quiet location with good security. Ideal if you want to stay in with a large screen TV, kitchen well stocked with cooking equipment. Could do with some minor repairs - back door was difficult to open.
