Santalina on Hervey Bay - Urangan, Queensland

Absolutely LOVED staying at Santalina in their water view apartment. Our parents visited from the Netherlands and were blown away by the views, the staffs friendliness and the location. Perfect for a walk to the markets on Saturday, breakfast next door at the cafe Sunday, and fishing on the pier at sunset. The apartment was super clean, modern, large and truly enjoyable. Beds also were super comfortable. Thank you for making our visit to Hervey Bay just perfect.

Run down dirty apartment, photos speak for itself, you showered and had to wipe the floor upon getting out as the ridiculous screen there was doing nothing. Shower needs some sort of safety rail to assist in getting in and out. ||Mould on the ceilings and clearly care factor zero the pegs wow they couldn’t even spare to replace them. Such a dirty overpriced apartment. ||Would not say that Ari was pleasant upon arrival. Owners of the complex/ apartment need to find new management and also spend some money to fix the place.||Overpriced for a very run down apartment, should you book avoid room 4.||The grounds outside were not even clean.||Would not stay at SANTALINA again or would recommend to anyone.

We spent a week at Santalina. With water views our unit was perfect.
A few minor concerns. I would like to see a pot scrubber and dish detergent in the unit. We had to buy them ourselves as the lovely cleaner said they don't supply these. I like to leave dishes clean and washed on vacating the unit.
Some minor misses on cleanliness. Behind laundry door there was a lot of dust on the walls and also under laundry sink could do with a clean.
Beds were very comfy, linen very clean.
No manager on site to answer questions or even to greet us.
But we will be back for sure.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Extremely nice, spacious, fully equipped apartment with an amazing view over the ocean from the balcony.|Also, a big shout out to Ari at front desk who helped us arrange some wonderful excursions during our visit (K'gari and whale watching); her understanding of our needs was second to none; It was a joy to stay here. Only downside is the incredibly small car park. I would suggest trying to find parking elsewhere

I once described this place as a little gem, a hidden gem, a diamond in the rough. Not a 4star but has the potential to be.
I found this place in 2019, our first stay was excellent but it has been a downhill slide since then.

My most recent experience;
It's now Wednesday close of business, Monday I received a call asking did I wish to rebook this coming weekend being a long weekend, yesterday we spoke where I thought I was booked in and as noted by Ari she was contacting when back in office with confirmation of price.

To today after organising 2 parties work schedules to make the trip after our business was chased to be advised nothing is now available. Today upon being told the apartment and every other is now gone we were offered a property behind when I wanted more info it wasn't available, all empty promises that make you question why did they ring chasing my business, I rung back yet again to be advised the system was down due to end of month taking place, to then receive via text at close of business we have nothing. Today is May 1st Wednesday.

Why on Monday 29th and yesterday 30th April was my business chased to now after 2 parties having rescheduled work to make a long weekend trip now faced with no accommodation and lose of wages? All because I needed a price per night that couldnt be given over phone though they were ringing me to return? Nothing says professional here.

Our last stay being just last year which was my daughter's birthday present request to stay here is now our last because this has done it for us both older and now generation of holidayers.

I hope his review gets to the owners as I'd seriously look at new management, I'd be looking into why there may be no increases in occupancy and revenue, why are customers not returning and rebooking.... A good or bad manager of any business, complex or team makes or breaks a business in this instance it's a complete breakdown for me over a few stays over now a couple of years, the problem isn't going away so we must. Hervey bay will no longer be on our holiday list as it has always proven difficult to now ridiculous. There are plenty of other places a few hours of Brisbane that aren't a headache and let's face it offer alot more than the bay.

Venue review based on last stay;

I understand rooms are being renovated and hope the sign and online advertising that's always been incorrect reflect the truth post reno.
There is no foxtel, streaming etc, our last visit we were told to login to our own streaming and hotspot it which we didn't have so we were made to feel it was an inconvenience to ask Ari up to see to the tv to be able to actually watch something on it during our downtime.

My first stay I had an elder in a wheel chair and baby in pram we were placed in Esplanade/front unit ground level where I was able to lift both up a few stairs easily enough but it's a struggle from the car park as there's hills and stairs so not really wheelie friendly.

Parking: underover is NOT available for high vehicles 2m+. Large and long vehicles (patrol) are difficult to swing around into the REAR OUTDOOR Parking space.

Street parking or next door is not recommended. *During our last stay a break in occurred at the pub (western side) and loads of thugs walk up and down Esplanade. Police presence has never been noted to counter act such street activity.

My advice is to avoid Room 10. We stayed here last year and loved it so much we booked to come back again with our daughter. The apartments are apparently individually owned, so although last year the apartment we stayed in was wonderful, the one we got this year was in serious need of refurbishment and cleaning. We asked to be moved but no others were available. Room 10 had holes in walls, paint flaking off, was devoid of decoration and the vents were filthy. On the other hand, the location is superb, the caretaker friendly and helpful. The parking is tight, but ok if you don't have a very large car. There is also parking on the street. I'd stay again, but would demand a room that was in good condition.

This place exceeded our expectations. The apartment was large and beautifully furnished! Was close to the beach, pier and amazing coffee next door. And concerns, Ari was quick to sort it out for us. I will definitely return next time we visit Hervey Bay! |

Just had a 3 day holiday at Santalona very disappointed apartment number 8 it was very dirty and needs a major makeover. We arrived and only had 1 toilet roll for 3 people and only 2 bath towels which were not placed in the master bedroom but in the second bedroom. The location is second to none but would not risk staying again or recommending it to anyone.
