We really enjoyed the aquatic life (birds and turtles) here. The lakeside setting is absolutely gorgeous and one-of-a-kind. However, the cabins are in serious need of renovation. Very old furniture and a sad-looking, threadbare comforter on the bed. The floor in our room was not clean when we arrived. We really wanted to love this place but it's in need of some touch-ups. Everything was serviceable (wifi, aircon, hot water) - so you may well enjoy staying here, as long as you know what you're getting into.

I came to stay as a group to Sanctuary Lakes Fauna Retreat and had the most lovely experience. The turtles and ducks were so cute! We loved going for morning walks around the beautiful lake, the pool is so much fun and the villas are gorgeous - clean, lovely and relaxing. Thank you, Deb and Rod for making our stay so wonderful!

An unexpected accommodation gem in Hervey Bay. Our family of five stayed for a week across three villas which were perfectly comfortable for our needs. Peaceful outlook with the sounds and sights of nature. Deb & Rob were wonderfully attentive and responsive hosts who helped with logistics and booking a beautiful day tour to K’gari.

I stayed here for 1 night only in a one bedroom villa. The instructions as to how I could find and access my villa were comprehensive and easy to follow. My villa was almost at the end of the roadway in so it was reasonably quiet, and I drove past all the lovely lakes this accommodation is known for.||The villa was spotlessly clean and nicely presented. A large TV with access to streaming services, you could either sit on one of the comfy chairs to watch or lie on the bed. A small kitchenette with a full size fridge. A nice surprise was finding the box of Roses chocolates in the fridge, and the frozen peas in the freezer...to feed the turtles. The bathroom doubled as a laundry with a washing machine and dryer, not that I needed it but good to know for a longer visit. The bed was very comfortable and I had the best night's sleep.||The villas are alongside the lakes that are full with turtles and bird life. I also saw a bat colony over the other side of the lake, far enough away not to be a problem.||The location is fabulous being walking distance to the Botanic Gardens, the Urungan Pier, and close to shops and restaurants by car.||A lovely spot to stay and different to your usual accommodation with nature so close. I'd stay here again.

Being in amongst the trees and able to feed the turtles makes this accommodation such an incredible experience. Watching bats fly overhead in the evening and listening to birdlike in morning - wow!

Staff are not friendly, AC was not working even we complained twice and no action taken, the balcony hasn't been cleaned for ages, they have provided very few housekeeping and when we asked for an additional toilet paper roll they charged us $2.03 for it.
Note: we got a villa for 5 for 3 nights and they provided 2 shampoos, 2 soaps and 1.5 toilet paper rolls!!!
Note 2: the below reply is full of lies, no one knocked at the door, we were going to bed at 9:00pm and turn off everything, even before that we were watching a movie with reasoble voice level, distance between villas is at least 10m away and no way Neighbours Compliant of nois6e. finally I came back to the reception after you gave my son the toilet paper and washing detergent and you did not mention anything about paying for detergents/toilet paper, and taking the $2.03 is indeed the act of theft!!! Our 5 year daughter, was out only once when we were preparing to go out, she was playing with one duck, the owner immediately talk to my wife in a very bossy and rude way, and my wife tought my daughter not to do that and my daughter didn't repeat that again! Saying that this has done in several times is another lie from the owner...
