First day of reopening and first time visit for my husband and I. It is such a beautiful venue with yummy food, coffee and service that compliments it. If you are in the area you definitely need to visit or even if you're not it's still worth the trip! We will be back for sure and can't wait for their dinner menu 😋

It was wonderful to go to a venue that offered something different to the usual dinner options! It is a beautiful location, with an ambient and warm atmosphere, and the staff seem to all want to make your experience a memorable one! I was truly impressed of the standards of service and food provided. Will definitely be back soon! Even just for a delicious coffee xx

We are staying at Woodgate Beach and drove 25 mins to have lunch at Rusty Gate today. It’s a beautiful spot. The tables under the trees remind me a little of the Da Paolini lemon tree restaurant on Capri. The food was excellent, with an amazing fig salad and risotto. We also tried the fish - which was cooked in an incredibly light batter made from Kalki Moon Vodka. (Kalki Moon is a local Bundaberg firm winning awards globally). Service was timely, with well informed Melbourne and French wait staff. We hesitantly tried a local Verdelho wine and it was surprisingly good. It’s great to see this region slowly transform into a foodie destination!

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The coffee was tepid and the Special Salad turned out to be a stew swimming in chilli sauce - not what I was expecting and I was unable to eat it.

Went there today an to my surprise the grilled chicken with chips an salad ($26) was smaller than the salt n pepper squid entree. Salad consisted of rocket an red onion. Not sure if that is what you class as a salad but I class it as garnish. Overall $$ for lunch were abit ⬆️ for the quality an quantity. Very disappointing after reading the reviews from when they 1st opened. Hopefully they take on board the reviews an try to improve because I would have liked to have tried their dinner menu.

Great place and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service and food were very disappointing. I booked online for a late lunch/ early dinner, and when we arrived, we went for a little walk around and took in the beautiful atmosphere. It's a shame the rest of the experience was downhill from there. We started with ordering drinks, which they had forgotten about. After looking at the whole menu and being ready to order the food, we got told that we were only serving snacks. Still, nothing was mentioned on the website, so disappointingly, we ordered 1 cheese platter, which contained six pieces of small smoked cheese wedges, what I think was tomato relish and scattered dates and pumpkin seeds and 4 very thin slices of pear (definitely not $15 worth) and a charcuterie board, which contained four slices of slimy ham, silverside, sliced salami and roast beef with scattered dates and pumpkin seeds again definitely not $20 worth.
