Had an unplanned stay on short notice at the Royal hotel while coming to work in the area.
Nicely renovated old hotel that serves great meals and provides a very friendly service.
Accomodation was a single room with double bed for $80 for the night, Toilets showers and a kitchen are a separate communal setup but clean and functional.

Great meal for traveling through at Guyra. Kitchen open at 3pm which we were concerned it would close at 2pm.
Clean, service awesome as well. Travelers a definite go to.

Had a disappointing experience- I booked to stay from Friday to Sunday over the Australian Celtic Festival weekend. Halfway through my 4 and a bit hour drive and halfway to guyra I received a message that said my booking was somehow incorrect, and even though my booking went through and was confirmed (2 weeks in advance)I was informed that they actually didn't have any availability for that weekend, and my booking was cancelled. Fortunately accommodation was found for me in Glen Innes.

We enjoyed two meals from the Seniors Menu plus I had a schooner. The food (chicken schnitzel with chips and salad plus a Hawaiian pizza) was very good. All made on the premises, including the pizza base. Good staff and plenty of patrons. We camped nearby so an easy stroll back to the RV.

On 21/5/2025…..during the Taree floods….we could not find a room anywhere. EXPEDIA booked us a night at Royal Guyra Hotel. When we got there at 8.00 pm the owner did not have our booking and he was fully booked. He was so kind offering us food and drink and directed us back to his other hotel in Walcha. EXPEDIA have refused a refund of the night. Once again the good people at Royal Guyra Hotel have come to the rescue and are dealing with EXPEDIA for me and have assured me of a refund!
This appears to be a lovely hotel and we will be sure to stay here next time!
Don’t use EXPEDIA. Book direct!

Went in for evening meal. Got charge $28.60 for a chichen schnitzel. But I think they got it mixed up with a pigeon schnitzel. The smallest piece of chicken I've ever seen, with 2 pieces of corn cob 15mm thick, 3 small sprigs of broccolini, 1 table spoon of mash potato. Everyone at the table commented on how small it was. Don't was your money people, and definitely don't buy the chicken schnitzel. $28.60 rip off
