Maureen was the highlight of our stay at Rosebud. She is a lovely, enthusiastic and an amazing host with the perfect accommodation setting. We (my husband and I) were looking for a single night stay at Canberra before moving to Thredbo and did not really want much before I saw this amazing cottage online. I liked Maureen from the time I spoke to her on the phone to make a booking, she welcomed us on arrival and baked us home made bread as well. The 150 year old cottage is private, made of wood and furnished with old and quirky pieces adding to its charm. The cottage has a beautiful backdrop of a farm and is a lovely retreat in winters. We had a wonderful stay and had only good things to notice about the unique property. The best thing I liked about the cottage was how it had old pictures of the earliest inhabitants of the house as if they were still staying there!

I travelled to Canberra initially for work, however extended it to a week long trip with my partner. The cottage was absolutely beautiful! Just have a read on the website on the details of when it was built etc and you will understand. It was the perfect cosy size for the two of us. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. The bathroom is renovated and the water was always hot. The kitchen/lounge area is great. Gas fire was lit before we got there by Maureen the owner. She even had some homemade bread, homemade jams, eggs and butter ready for us as our flight got in late the night before!||||It was really the perfect place to come back to after sight seeing every day. (Some days when we were out we would often say how excited we were to get back home to the cottage!)||||There is a walk track at the back of the cottage that follows the back of the property. We went for a quick walk one evening on sunset, even though is was freezing!! (we are from The Kimberley in WA), it was absolutely beautiful with the orange glow over the trees and the fields. ||||Rosebud Cottage is located not far at all from the CBD, and feels like you are a world away on the farm.||||I had never been to Canberra before however we are very likely to return and would without a doubt stay here. - I cannot actually think of any down points to this accommodation.||||P.S. (Sorry Maureen we were really disappointed that we forgot a pen! and couldn't write in the visitor's book).

This is a lovely place to stay. It is oddly placed in what looks like a suburban street in Canberra but it is actually a working farm and part of a complex of nineteenth century farm buildings. ||We stayed in Bell's Cottage which is a tiny wood slab two room cottage built in 1879 and lovingly restored with just enough twenty first century mod cons to make it as comfortable as you could wish. Canberra needs good heating/cooling. Both are excellent. ||We sat outside in the early evening overlooking the Brindabellas and were entertained by hundreds of birds getting ready for roosting. That was enough for us. But add good shower, full kitchen facilities, comfortable bed and the charming and helpful owner Maureen who supplied home made bread and jam and eggs from her hens and it was a delight. ||I loved the way everything was left that should be left: Sunshine Harvester, T model Ford, horse drawn hoes, buggies etc. Nothing tarted up. ||And being Canberra it is only a few minutes drive from all the museums and galleries and restaurants and cafes that you could wish for.

My husband and I have stayed at both Rosebud and Bell cottages and both are fantastic. Maureen Tully the host is amazing, very friendly, cooks home made bread and jams which are great and very obliging. She supplies everything you could think of. From the outside the historic slab cottages are genuine heritage cottages but have been adapted with gas heating, air conditioning, new spacious bathroom, laundry with many heritage features. The four post bed is very comfortable with electric blankets. It is right on the edge of Canberra suburbs on a farm. We intend to stay here whenever we are in Canberra.

A wooden slab cottage built in the 1860s, with Miele appliances, a very comfortable four poster bed, a modern bathroom and loads of character features? With free range eggs, homemade jams and fresh baked bread provided for our breakfast? This place was an amazing find! ||||From the moment we arrived our host made us feel very welcome. Her personal tour and history of the property - inside and out were fascinating. There's a Model T in the shed, kangaroos in the paddock, and the cottage itself is fully of interesting features. The treasure of the place is that history and modern comforts coexist very well in this very well-equipped cottage and we had a great night's sleep.

The location is just right: close to a tram stop. The environs are pleasant: right on the golf course. It is quiet, despite being close to the main road into Civic. The staff are nice, especially the helpful room cleaner. The price was ok.||The motel is quite run down, however, & many things in the room were needing replacement or repair.||All in all, a good place to stay, but don't expect anything flash.

What a pleasure to stay in such a lovingly restored historic house. A much better option than a hotel room in the heart of the city. Here, because of the large plot of land, you feel like you're in the country, yet accessible to all that Canberra has to offer. Maureen is an utter delight! She kindly baked us a loaf of bread and gave us eggs from her hens.
