Absolutely delicious - such a great find! The Riverside Cafe has an amazing selection of pastries and cakes, good coffee and excellent (large) breakfasts. We sat outside on the (roofed) harbourside verandah - looking straight out at the fishing boats etc that come in and out. A very picturesque place to sit and enjoy your meal. Highly recommend the almond croissants.

here for 2 months in Cooktown we had not yet taken the time to test this address. what a shame not to have tested it before. the pastries are delicious, the view superb, the prices are very correct and Luc and his wife adorable! we are leaving in 2 weeks but we will come back before leaving for sure!!!

I note people have taken exception at the service they did or did not receive. We arrived in the middle of covid restrictions and were told to wait outside until the numbers at the counter went down. A little taken back but we waited and so pleased we did. Two people running this place were just flat out busy and can be forgiven their abruptness. Once we were served our stunning breakfast we struck up a pleasant conversation they really were lovely people. So pleased we stayed.

The owners clearly discriminate against anyone they don't like. They tell you it's fully booked despite every table being empty! They appear only to serve locals. I managed to sweet talk my way to coffee on a bench, which was below average. The pastries looked nice. It's almost worth going just to experience the terrible service and have a giggle. You can watch her refusing service. And you can take the challenge of trying to get a table. It's hilarious.

The owners are extremely rude. The food is average. The sausage tasted sour. Hash brown is tasteless. We’re told we would be charged an extra $5.50 for a spare plate. As breakfast arrived we were told to get out of the restaurant because we had a laptop on the table and wanted to work while eating. There is rude and abusive signage all through the restaurant. Owners should seriously consider another profession. Won’t be going back.

Pretty fancy food. Nice area to sit on the river front.
The cakes and pastries looked world class.
I saw some breakfasts being delivered and they looked amazing.
Locals in Cairns all talk about this little shop.
