My partner and I visited Cooktown on the 28th February 2025 and booked accommodation at River of Gold Motel for one night.The receptionist we dealt with was Nikki who was extremely friendly and went out of her way to give us tips on where to visit in this cute little town of Cooktown. Nothing was a problem. I'm sorry I can't give 5 stars for service as the next morning, 7 minutes prior to the 10am check out, a young girl knocked on our door asking us to check out! We were just doing last minute searching of the room to make sure we had everything. She also asked if everything was alright! We felt a bit intimidated as her questioning came across more of an interigation.

The lovely people running the place were simply awesome. Very polite and accommodating, all round lovely people. The place is nice, with a pool, rooms were everything you needed and very clean and tidy. Would happily go back there again next time I'm in town.

This was the best place to stay as it was central to walking around everywhere. Staff were the best and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was great - clean, fresh, and roomy.
We strongly recommend this motel.

Very nice upstairs self-contained apartment with 2 balconies and views. Managers were very helpful. Lovely pool. Great meals at the in-house restaurant. Great central location for walks and the shops on Charlotte St. Strongly recommended as this motel is excellent value for money.

Lee was lovely and super helpful. We hired the 2 bedroom apartment for the night, kitchen was great , bathrooms clean and linen crisp. Great value for money, one of the nicest and most modern motels I have stayed at. We unfortunately were unable to have dinner at their restaurant which serves stonegrilled meats inclusive of sides and sauces.
Highly recommend.
