Norah Head is a captivating coastal location, known not only for its stunning ocean views but also for its rich maritime history. The coastline off Norah Head has been the site of many shipwrecks over the years, a stark reminder of the dangers that early sailors faced while navigating these waters. The most famous of these wrecks is the SS Maitland, which ran aground in 1898 during a fierce storm.

To prevent further maritime disasters, the Norah Head Lighthouse was built and officially opened in 1903. This historic structure has stood as a beacon of safety for more than a century, guiding ships away from the perilous coastline. The lighthouse remains fully operational today and is a popular spot for tourists to visit, offering panoramic views of the surrounding ocean.

Adding to the allure, you can book a stay in the restored lighthouse keepers’ cottages. As a family we've stayed in these charming accommodations and they certainly do provide a unique experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in the area's history while enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Such a refreshing place to revisit. Never a crowded area, the lighthouse tour was informative but also didn't drag out necessarily. Worth the experience to say you did it.

What a beautiful lighthouse. So well maintained and a great display of lighthouse memorabilia and historical documents. Great spot for photos and the steps down to the beach take you to some wonderful natural rock formations.

It's a stunning place to visit, and don't miss out on the lighthouse tour. The team there is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They charge $10 per person. The beach is the best part with crystal clear water.

Picturesque light house that has a 20-25 min tour for a $28 fee for family of 5. Rock pools out the front are worth visiting

Great lighthouse and location, the grounds around it are always clean, walking track down to the beach and views are also spectacular. Plenty of seating areas and lookouts.

The also hold a tour of the lighthouse, you can walk up to the top and learn about the history of it all for about $10 - $15
Takes about 20 minutes but worth doing if you are there

This is no doubt a best highlight of our trip to Central Coast. It's a perfect place to chill out.

We went once and then went back again the next day. The following day was more of a picnic to enjoy the rock pool and beach and enjoy the coastal and rock walk.

This place has a number of benches to enjoy the meal. I must say benches were spotless cleaned.

The place was nice busy with ample parking spaces. No booking is required as this place is walk-in for public.

Light house is mesmerising. I used to use it as a navigation way point during my sea time onboard commercial and passenger ships.

The place gives you a very warm feeling inside which only sailor can understand.

Love this place ❤️.

You all enjoy your time there.

We came here at night, after driving pass and seeing the huge beams of light passing by. The lighthouse was a beauty to look at, and it was amazing to see it in action at night, illuminating the majority of the beach. We were also able to see the lights of the ships in the distance, and saw some lovely scenery of the beaches below. They had guided tours for the inside of the lighthouse, which we didn't go, but it looked interesting. I would recommend going at night to see it in action, and we enjoyed the history lessons on plaques. Loved the experience!
