Lovely fresh tasting chips and potato cakes that aren't soggy. The combination makes it hard to stop eating. Also, best eaten by the sea as the Seagulls would be happy too. The serving size was a little bigger than we anticipated. We'll be back in the next time I come back home.

Ring up to order food told be ready in 15 minutes get there in 20 and hadn't even started making it. Waste of time calling...

You say my order was nearly ready I walk in and paid the young kid at the register who couldn't find the order at first. I was still waiting for nearly 15 minutes so no where near being ready.

My issue was not today but it was this week. Your lack of service was not because today is Good Friday. There was no one else in the store aside from the woman who had the very large number of orders on my most recent visit. I appreciate that you say you will take feedback on board. If that is the case, please consider focusing on improving your service in store and also consider reducing your prices to align with other fish and chip shops in Gippsland.

Do not go here. This is the worst fish and chip shop I have had the displeasure of visiting in my life.

Go to Maffra Roast House instead. At least you'll be supporting a business that deserves it.

Every single time I come here I am disappointed.

Expensive. Seriously. How do you manage to charge 50% more than every other fish and chip shop in Gippsland?

Bad service. The last two times I went here I had extremely long wait times. Both times I called to order, was told 5-10 minutes, then arrived 15-20 minutes later expecting the food to be ready.

One time the young man behind the counter said the food wasn't ready, I waited 20 more minutes then asked again, and he looked again at the food that was in the bain-marie then handed me my food. It sat there an extra 20 minutes because he was too lazy to look and lied to me about it being not ready.

The most recent time I had to wait 20 minutes for a woman in front of me to order about 20 meals before I was able to pay and leave with my already cooked meal that I had called to order. I don't blame the woman that was ordering, but at the very least the store should acknowledge that if you have ordered already you should be able to pay for your food before someone putting in new orders, especially when it is already cooked and going soggy.

Minimum eftpos is $10. Shady, but not illegal. Not that this will impact most people as their minimum chips already eats up most of that price anyway, and everything is far more expensive than other shops.

Again, if the owners read this - fix your prices, fix your service, be better.

The most expensive takeaway fish and chips I've ever eaten. They're now the only option for fish and chips in Maffra now that Maffra Takeaway had closed.

The photo of minimum chips, two potato cakes, and two fish cakes cost $15.30. Compared to what Maffra Takeaway used to charge for the same thing and every other fish and chip shop in Gippsland (~$10), the price is ridiculous.

It makes matters worse that I have seen them weighing their chips before putting them in the deep fryer. I can't say whether they still do this because they actually answer their phone nowadays and I don't have to awkwardly wait in the store any more after ordering.

I would recommend going somewhere else if you have a choice, but if you are craving fish and chips that you don't mind being a bit overcooked sometimes then you've got the right (and only) place.

If the owners read this, one thing you can take from this review on how to improve is stop making it obvious that you are ripping off the locals. No one likes that you do it.

Absolute delight. All fresh ingredients make for a tasty meal. Great folks behind the counter. Recommend highly if take away is what you’re after.

Best fish and chips!
The home made potato cakes were incredible. Flavour was delicious and chips were a good mixture of soft and crispy. So happy!!
