The ‘garden villa’ should be called the ‘backyard swamp’ when it rains. After believing we had the front unit that we had last time we stayed, we were swapped out for the owners family without our knowledge. We were promised the same experience and cost as last time so when the owner said we were in the garden villa this didn’t mean anything to us as we don’t know all the names of her different units. Heavy rain meant we had to wage through dirty calf level water to get to the front door of the garden unit that didn’t drain away for the whole two nights/three days we were there. Additionally the bathroom flooded every time you used the shower, even with the nozzle pointed at the other shower wall so don’t put slippers or anything you don’t want wet on the floor anywhere in the bathroom when having a shower. The milk we were provided was off with black mould around the lid. The internet was sporadic and I woke up in the middle of the first night after a cockroach landed on my face whilst we were sleeping. The front unit is very nice but do not rent the back unit if there is ANY chance of rain or you’ll be swimming through mud. It should not be rented during rainy season. When we complained the owner tried to claim she did us a favour by renting it to us and she couldn’t control the weather but honestly it shouldn’t be rented out in wet season as it’s inhabitable.

We've stayed at this lovely place twice, the first time for a birthday weekend away. We loved it so much, we came back with the kids who were excited to sleep in the special bunk beds tucked away in the cupboard.

The owner is lovely, the set up is great, with everything you need in the kitchenette. And Bundeena is a fantastic place to be based to explore the Royal National Park.

Comfortable and cosy with short walk to the beach and main street. A great chance to feel that you have got away without having to travel for hours. A very low stress break.
