Brief visit here whilst staying in a local Airbnb. The coffee was pretty decent and the croissants were good. Our son enjoyed the walk there and playing in the small play area on site. Beautiful views and a lovely setting.

Pullenvale Hall was a magical backdrop to my daughter's wedding. The venue offers a beautiful community hall with a country feel and grounds that allow for a sizable marquee and scenery to enhance the wedding photos and memories. A large kitchen allows self-catering an easy option. Mark and everyone on the committee who volunteer to look after this special place were easy to deal with and ensured everything was in order for the day. A country setting not too far from the city which allowed the happy couple to create a wedding unique to them.

Home to multiple events and markets, Pullenvale Hall is a great place to visit with the whole family.

There is a market that is held here every Saturday morning with multiple products and food items available for sale.

Furthermore, the hall is available for hire if you ever need to host an event.

Overall, the markets that are held here are incredible and I recommend that you check them out if you ever have a Saturday morning free.

Our day-time Women’s dance events were wonderful until the hall cancelled our booking. Neighbours had complained about noise. We are also local residents, and go to dance events all the time and the sound system was no louder than anywhere else. They did not try to talk to us or mediate in any way, just informed we were cancelled. When they cancelled our booking, we only had a few weeks to find a new venue for our next dance. It was extremely challenging. You might want to ask the hall about this, if you’re thinking of booking and playing music, and making sure the contract of hire is very clear about music, decibels and what their protocol is, if there are complaints. Sorry to say we won’t be back. A shame, as these events are very good for fitness, health and freedom of expression.

UPDATE: since the hall replied below… I emailed the Hall when they informed us of wanting to cancel, asking if we could meet to discuss or find a compromise.

Their email back to me said they were unwilling to discuss, would not review their decision and that their priority were the immediate neighbours to the hall, who all donated to the hall’s upkeep.

So you might want to reconsider this space if you’re wanting to dance with music, eg at a wedding etc.

Otherwise perhaps mention this review and ask exactly what their current policy is on noise and dance, and handling complaints. And suggest you get that in writing!

Their decision left us without a space to dance, with less than four weeks notice til our next event.

As I mentioned in my email to them, I prefer to be informed when there is a complaint and to rectify by way of discussion and mediation. Not just a blanket “the committee has decided.” Without any checking in with all involved.

Our women’s dance events were precious places for local women to let off steam, especially after the floods and bushfires.

Of course we were unhappy about the decision, and unhappy with the follow-up.

By the way, we were dancing during daytime hours! Not even later in the evening!

I hope this review helps you decide on where to book your events. And I hope it asks the Pullenvale Hall Committee to review how they handle complaints and ensure arbitrary decisions are not made that impact the welfare of local women.

You might like to know we have been booking into another local hall since then, with whom we have a lovely relationship, very communicative!

We have a regular dance night there, and are glad we can contribute to funding money the hall. They were even good enough to hear and meet our request for heaters during winter.

Can’t rate Upper Brookfield Hall and their committee highly enough.
