I had driven past Prospect House for over 20 years wanting to dine there so on Mother’s Day we went for lunch.
Food - 5 stars. A fine dining experience
Staff - polite, friendly and accommodating

Our stay here in Richmond was made so much more memorable due to the friendly efforts of Kylie, David, Lisa, Kolpana and Imogen. What a crew. (and Basil the fill in waiter aka John) |Our room was spacious and well appointed, it was an easy walk downstairs to the restaurant, and nothing was a problem. The meals were superb yet surprisingly simple with choices from the main food groups. The wines were another level from Pooleys Wines which is associated with the venue. We would recommend doing the tasting and having the pizza lunch at the winery. |The property is situated close to Hobart and many other attractions. Our focus was the food and wines of the area and we were not disappointed.|We would highly recommend Prospect House as a destination.

We enjoyed this place so much 2 years ago we returned and it is still of a high standard - this would be perfect for a special occasion. We had dinner in the main dining area and the meals were excellent - i had eye fillet and my wife had Duck and then we both had desserts which were excellent.|One of the perks here is a free wine tasting at Pooleys Wines and you only have to walk across the road! A comprehensive continental breakfast is provided in the conservatory.|The bonus is the historic town of Richmond is in walking distance, and plenty of things to see.|Very much enjoyed our stay.

Returned to stay at Prospect Hose after last staying there in 1988. Spent three nights and dined at the hotel each night. Part of the Pooley Wines family a short stroll up the hill for a tasting and pizza is a must.
I cannot recommend highly enough a stay here. The service from the staff is exemplary and we felt that we were part of their family as well.

Perfect place for couples or small groups looking for high quality, professional yet relaxed escape. Accomodation is beautifully appointed with everything you need and more. Access to lounges, outdoor spaces and picnic areas make this somewhere you won’t want to leave. Kylie, David and Imogen are exceptional at their jobs and go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The restaurant is exquisite both the space and the food! The Prospect House Chef does a fabulous job. We can’t wait to go back.

We had a fantastic one night stay at Prospect House in a beautiful courtyard king room. David met us on arrival and offered us a welcome glass of champagne before showing us around the amazing main house. Next we had a complimentary premium wine tasting at the nearby Pooley’s Cellar door where we were very well looked after by Callum. Following that, we had a beautiful afternoon tea back at Prospect House. Later that evening, we enjoyed an absolutely delicious dinner cooked by David with terrific service from Imogen. Our room was very modern, comfortable and immaculately clean. The next morning, Lisa provided us with a delicious breakfast. We really loved our stay at Prospect House, and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We certainly hope to stay there again next time we’re in Tasmania.

Another delightful dining experience at Prospect Country House in Richmond on 1 April 2025. Just prior to Christmas 2024 we were spoiled as solo guests in the restaurant and as always enjoyed the exemplary service of David and the excellent cooking skills of Kalpana. This time we had some fellow diners and once again had an outstanding meal. Despite Kalpana being on leave, the standards were upheld and David delivered and looked after us expertly as always. We cannot recommend Prospect Country House highly enough for a special evening in elegant surroundings without being stuffy!
