The picnic area of Point Hut has changed a bit on the years.

There used to be a BBQ area where the concert slab is also a large table that could very easily accommodate a family's outing!
Now there's two small tables...

The carpark is not very big at all. Maybe it will fit around 10-12 cars max. There is a dirt carpark across the bridge at the dog beach zone!

Across the road from the picnic area is a not to bad swimming area but be very careful, especially with the eastern brown snakes, I personally have seen some big ones near the bridge!

You can find a toilet block here in the main picnic area, but there's no bins, so it is best to bring a rubbish bag if you are having lunch or an afternoon snack...

You can find a great walking trail that follows the Murrumbidgee river all the way to Pine Island reverse near South Point Tuggeranong.

Lovely spot. Shady, big trees, not many people here during the day during the week. Toilets. Picnic tables and chairs. Scenic area. Watch out for snakes. Would come here with the family and dog. As it very inclusive of the whole family!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice spot for a swim. Has public toilets, plenty of shade and large area. No bins though so take your rubbish with you.

Sometimes attracts a few undesirables in the evening who get up to shenanigans.

A very nice spot to stop if you come into Canberra via the hills. It was a very hot day when we got into Canberra so we had a quick stop here to have a look at the river.

A real gem! Stunning nature spot about 20-30 min drive south of Canberra. A bush trail, dotted with wild blackberry thickets, follows the Murrumbidgee River all the way to Pine Island from Hut Crossing which opens out to little swimming spots along the way. Nature lovers and dog walkers will love this part of the country.

Great place to relax and listen to the river flowing. Great for a swim in summer if it's not flowing too fast. 🙂

Lovely place by the Murrambidgee for a picnic! Hey catch a fish if you want to... Just ensure they are not endangered!
