Booked a few nights to spend time with my family on the holidays, took the family to the pool which quickly escalated to permanent residents verbally abusing our young children multiple times for being too loud in the pool and discriminating against our child with a disability. This obviously left my family feeling very upset and unsafe in which we decided to take ourselves elsewhere for our holiday and request a refund as we hadn’t spent more than an hour in the complex. Reception refused a refund and told us we were unreasonably upset. Both the residents and the reception showed little care and understanding of the circumstances. Out of pocket $1300 for no holiday and verbal abuse on top. Also please note that we were given our own sheets to make the bed, we were not allowed to change the aircon from the settings already set, not provided pool towels, cutlery and kitchen utensils were not sanitary, notes throughout the unit with specific instructions and expectations including a $30 fee if we did not clean the kitchen before departure (on top of the cleaning fee). Balcony with dangerously low railings and only flick lock to secure the external doors (one of the doors was not functional). Very outdated physically and mentally, has caused my family immense pain and left us with no funds for the rest of our holiday.

Edit: after days of back and forth of being ignored and hung up on we have been issued our refund. After receiving the funds we were flipped off through the window as we drove away

Wish I read the reviews before I booked. Was interrogated upon my arrival with questions like, " You came far for just 2 days. Why are you here", and wanting to know my kids ages. I ended up having 4 kids instead of the 2 I booked for and was willing to pay the extra on my departure. The rude lady admin was yelling at me about the situation where everyone in the complex heard instead of talking to me appropriately. Was monitored the whole time I was there and they have cameras to keep an eye on you. Made my stay very uncomfortable. The rooms were big but old and very uncomfortable beds. You have to pay for internet and what deals they had on offer was a rip off. Had to hot spot my mobile for the kids and the reception there is no good. No toiletries, apart from toilet paper, and not much coffee n sugar. Never been in a hotel with no free internet and toiletries. For the price, definitely not worth it. Been in heaps better hotels for less. Got woken up early in Sunday morning with the church behind singing. Also was stated that the pool was solar heated, which was not. Water was cold. False advertising and rude management. I would rather sleep in a gutter than going back there. Will let everyone I know to never go to this place. If I could give a negative stars, I would. Definitely not Placid Waters. Overall the rooms were a great size and would overlook its age, but the management were sooooo rude which makes me to never return.

Rooms old, dirty. Grimy carpet so I wore bedsocks that I had to throw away. Tiles were so old they were lifting off floor. Terrible internet, couldn't even make calls! Management were rude and inappropriate. If you do stay here, use a card only for this, not one you have your money in. A month after I left they took money from my account. Lying, thieving scum.

DO NOT STAY HERE> After many years staying at this apartment building I will never stay here again. I am a regular customer who books Christmas and Australia Day weekend each year and occasionally books September and/or Easter holidays. We have stayed in several of their units (waterfront and poolside) both as a family and with friends. In a previous stay in Unit 20 (waterfront room) we had an unpleasant experience with extremely hard beds. Upon booking this year I rang and asked which unit was available and requested unit 1. I explicitly stated if Unit 20 was the only unit available I would book a poolside unit instead or happily decline to book. I was explicit in stating that my reason for not booking unit 20 was my inability to sleep on the really hard bed. The female manager said that no unit could be gauranteed at which point I politely declined to book and hung up. She rang me back five minutes later and stated I could have unit 1. On this information I stated that I would be happy to book given we would be in unit 1 and paid my deposit. She stated at the end of the conversation that it would be unit 1. Upon arrival, she told me a disabled person with a walker had booked and they were now in unit one and she gave me Unit 20. (The units are not disabled access as all involve flights of stairs and none have disabled facilities). I was extremely shocked as I would not have spent $1100 if I was going to spend another week in Unit 20. She advised there was new beds and she didn't see what the problem was. I stated my disappointment that the conditions of the booking were changed and asked if the disabled person booked before or after me and she said that they had booked after but it didn't matter. She stated 'We are trying to run a business here'. When I pointed out that I was a regular customer of her business she denied that I was. When I asked her why she didn't call me when my booking was changed at the point of the disabled lady booking she gaslighted me. She was extremely rude, denied all knowledge of every promising unit one and said the disabled person had priority. They were already in the unit. She told me it was Unit 20 or she would refund and not book me in... which is not much help when you have packed and travelled to arrive in the afternoon. With no other option than going all the way home in 35 degree heat we chose to stay however we discovered the beds were NOT new and the main door opening onto the balcony could not be opened... quite a hindrance in the 35 degree heat we experenced that week. I again tried to discuss the matter with her specifically about the beds as I have a heart condition made worse by lack of sleep. In the end she bought a foam underlay from Target. It did not help. We ourselves bought a matress liner to go on top but it did not change the sleepless nights. ||The unit is terrible and run down and not really clean. All four of us got bitten when sitting on the lounge. When we investigated, we discovered food crumbs in the couch and ants. There were major structual cracks in all walls, emtpy toilet rolls shoved in void of toilet wall, broken main balcony door, mould all over the front of the bathroom vanity, unwashed dishes in the cupboard, signs telling us not to run the aircon at night and a fridge that did not cool down for two days making our first lot of food go off. We ended up buying bags of ice and keeping them in the fridge to cool the fridge down and keep our food from spoiling. The fridge was no better than a camping esky. Before we could wash the clothes we had to clean the lint and muck out of the washing maching as it was clogged. ||After perservering all week we gave up and went home a day early as we couldn't stand another night. When it came time to check out, my husband returned the keys to avoid any further confrontation between myself and the female manager. She was extremely rude to my husband and stated we hadn't thanked her for the foam underlay and were inconveniencing her by checking out early. My husband had to point out that we weren't even asking for our money back, they were getting a nights tariff from us for free. Since returning home, I have been hospitalised twice due to the heart condition that arose from the week of no sleep in this unit. As the final part to this, our traditional reservation for Australia Day was not really tenable. I rang today and politely cancelled. When I queried what would happen with the deposit, she offered me to rebook or refund some but not all of my deposit. When I chose the refund, she stated 'Good because we don't want you here'. ||Whilst I will note that the male manager was entirely pleasant to us during our stay, if this is how the female manager of the apartment complex treats guests who kept returning and supporting her business through the tough years of COVID, I am not surpised that there is always availability at this unit. And as for the disabled lady with the walker... I saw her come and go and she was not in Unit 1 she was in a different unit.||Bribie is such a beautiful place to visit and stay and I have been coming here every year since I was a young child. I will just never stay at this accommodation again. Try First National Holiday Accommodation. They are far more reliable and much nicer as human beings to deal with.

Albeit the facility is dated, it was one of the best accommodation houses around. It is spacious, well appointed, clean and managed very well. Location could not be better and it’s size was exceptional. We would happily stay for more than a week. The whole ambiance was one of relaxation and functionality. The heated pool only added to our stay. Cannot recommend highly enough.

What can I say, placid waters complex is in a great position and handy to most things without driving. Although some of the rooms are getting a bit dated it is generally clean and tidy and the pool is great.I have stayed here on numerous occasions for the last 20 years and have even had a family Réunion where most of us stayed here. Recently we had three nights booked here but due to illness which is contagious we done the right thing and rang and informed Annette that we wouldn't be able to make it due to illness (covid) well we were met with no care and concern, rudness and rants about we could of renting this room out 100 times. Couldn't believe how rude this person was and only to be hung up in the end after trying to explain the situation properly. How about being a little more caring and not being all about the money. We are fully aware of the repocutions of late cancellations meaning forfeiting your deposit. Its not about the losing of our deposit although she did offer $100 rescheduled refund. Anyway I will never ever stay here again while these managers are in place nor will I recommend this place ever again which I have done on numerous occasions. I hope the next people running this place will be more friendly and understanding and more professional, not a good way to run a business. Like a comment made in another bad review,if you dont like what you do,move on and do us all a favour.

I have a son under 2 and upon booking asked for a ground floor, none was available so asked to be on the cancellation list, I contacted a few time in the weeks leading up to our stay to ask if a ground floor had become available and each time was spoken to rudely by admin. We arrived for our stay and was told the room was tiled I said how my son was at a climbing stage and could I get one of their carpeted rooms (which they do have) and again was spoken to nasty and unprofessionally to the extent I was judged on my parenting being told to “supervise as a parent better with climbing”. We DID NOT stay and was refused our deposit back. I would not recommend staying here ESPECIALLY if you have children. Would give a 0 star rating if I could!!

I have had a pleasurable stay while at Placid Waters Holiday Apartments. Both Annette and Rob have been friendly and most obliging throughout my seven months. During this time I stayed in several of the units due to work commitments. The units where always clean and tidy and with great quality linen. My unit has always faced the ocean with a great verandah to sit out on. The beds have always been fantastic with good quality pillows. The area was so good with a fantastic Bongaree Bakery next door and and a great selection of takeaways and restaurants close by…..even able to head down to the bowls club for a cheeky ginger beer.
