Review: Avoid Peninsular Apartments – Terrible Experience!

I booked a 4-night stay at Peninsular Apartments, Gold Coast via Booking.com, expecting a great holiday, but it turned out to be a nightmare.

The room was extremely dirty—it looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly in ages. The fridge top, wires, walls, cooktop, and exhaust were filthy. Cleaning utensils were disgusting, see in pictures. I complained to the staff, but the manager was unbelievably rude and refused to listen to any concerns.

To make things worse, they don’t provide housekeeping services at all! Guests are expected to clean everything themselves, including washing their own towels, as fresh ones aren’t provided daily. There was only one dishwasher detergent pouch and one laundry detergent pouch for the entire 4-day stay. They only provide shampoo, soap, and conditioner on day one, and after that, you’re on your own. Even the bin had only one liner, and no cleaning chemicals were provided, yet they expect guests to maintain cleanliness.

When I asked the manager why no one changed the bedsheets, cleaned the room, or provided fresh towels, he bluntly said they don’t offer these services. When I pointed out that their Booking.com ad didn't mention that you don't provide housekeeping, he just laughed it off and said we didn't mention that we do provide house keeping services. Completely unprofessional!

I strongly recommend avoiding this place. The management (who are Chinese and extremely rude) does not care about guests at all. Stay elsewhere! I’m also attaching photos to show the reality of this place.

I don’t normally leave bad reviews but people need to be warned! |Please spend your money elsewhere these people are the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with |The room was so incredibly dirty/dusty/mouldy A/C |Window in bedroom completely cracked and wind whistling through the un-sealed window in another bedroom |Sockets hanging off the wall and very poorly equipped eg. Cooking equipment / bedding supplies ||In addition to this when we reported our concerns with the room we were met with a disgraceful passive aggressive attitude from the staff who told us we would either have to wait till the next day or cancel and leave|Which is exactly what we did. Avoid at all costs. Had to record and photograph everything as evidence as such un-trustworthy dodgy people. ||Please pay a little extra and go elsewhere, save yourself the hassle

I visited this place before. Rude and unprofessional staff ever u found in Australia. Charging for cleaning fee as Airbnb even though it was booked in Booking.com. My case was $100 cause they requested us to cleaning the room otherwise not releasing the bond. It was very ridiculous. No bath towers, no houses keeping service in the room for the second day as well. If you look for a place to stay. Avoid this cheers

Spa not working - booked a spa for the kids and they can’t even use it. No mention that there was no spa available prior to our stay.

Dirty apartment flooring - Kids feet are black AFTER their baths. There are dirt marks everywhere.

There is Food and splatter all up the walls, cupboards, stove and benches.

PowerPoints unsafe hanging off the wall.

The bathrooms are mouldy.

The bed made me itchy.

There are dirty knives, forks and spoons put back in the cupboard not washed. I had to wash up the entire kitchen and wipe down all surfaces before use.

Supposed to be a self contained apartment but no utensils, no face washers, no tea towels, bin bags. Dishwasher not working.

Cannot lock balcony door from the inside, extremely dangerous with young children.

Dust all over the place, window cills, skirting boards and the carpet. Behind beds and bedside tables.

There was mould growing in the air conditioning units and they stink. (After mentioning this I was told they were serviced the previous week, when clearly they weren’t)

Tried to call management on check out. No one was at the reception desk and there was no answer on the phone. Says to call the mobile number on the window from 9am but no answer till after 11am.

Management then proceeded to tell me that number is only for emergencies….ummm ok not according to your sign.

Stayed 2 nights and managed to get a refund.
DO NOT STAY HERE!

Reviews have made me feel uneasy and reflect how I feel before even staying here.
I booked for pay on arrival with the understanding that there is a $300.00 security deposit and after booking I have been told that a pre-payment is required by PayID and that I need to send through a photo of my ID. It was going to be a later check in (7-8pm) and was told that we will be contacted on the day with information on how to collect the keys..? The whole experience seems very unprofessional and dodgy in my opinion. Trusted my gut and cancelled this reservation.

We loved our stay here. The apartment was clean and spacious. Check in was easy. The location is great. Easy to get to everything yet quiet when you want time out. We will be back again.

Extremely dirty apartment, food marks all over the kitchen and walls, white stains on the couch, floor had not been vacuumed. Toilet paper left in the toilet. Staff were quite rude and aggressive when we contacted them. We didn't even end up staying in the room yet they refused to reimburse the bond.. what a nightmare.

A great experience overall. Customer service was great from the get go. We had some admin issues with our booking and it was resolved very easily over the phone for us. The apartments themselves pleasantly surprised us. Great value for money, great views and spacious living room space. The balcony was a delight! Areas for improvement: there was no cold water in our showers on all 3 days that we stayed. We didn’t mind because the weather was pretty hot but if it was colder this would’ve been a disaster. One of the towels we got were also dirty / stained so a hygiene check is required. The room also smelt strongly of bleach the whole first 24 hours we stayed there which was unsettling.
