The hotel/motel is clean and tidy. Staff are very kind and very helpful. Good sized meals, that very large and filling. Comfy beds. Will definitely stay again. The aircon is great. Whilst the rooms are small, it’s very clean and very well priced.

This place was clean and had good quality air conditioning. The door was a little dodgy and the wifi was not wifi-ing. Still good.

Stumbled across this hotel, as to be honest as our first choices were booked. I have to say, what a pleasant surprise ! Rooms are basic but very clean, just updated with new ac etc. Food was excellent, so fair to say value for money was outstanding. Staff were great as well. Good honest stop with good people and good food.

What a great hotel motel with a brilliant chef, yes a chef! Alan, your meals on our two separate stays were superb. U make the pub well worth staying, plus the rooms (2 occasions) were excellent. The staff were super friendly and helpful. It's certainly the pick of the town.

There were more negatives to this place than positives.

Starting off with the positives: the room was very clean, the aircon looked new and worked great.

Now, the negatives. The water smelled horrible, maybe it had something to do with the mould, but having a shower was not a very pleasant experience. The room was not soundproof and you could hear absolutely everything outside (foot steps, car doors opening). The owner of the place was extremely sketchy. We called a couple days before our road-trip to book a room, he said there was no need to pre-book and to just do it on arrival as they are open 24/7.
I asked him if the cost of the room will still be $89 when we arrive, he specifically said "we will honour that price".

We began our road-trip from Sydney and expected to arrive at the Oxford Hotel Motel at around 10pm. I called the owner to say that we will be 2 hours late, he said "no worries, we are open 24 hours so just call us when you arrive". I felt relieved.
1 hour later we got a text message from the owner asking how much longer we will be, I said another hour. He insinuated that we needed hurry as he just remembered that he needed to drive to Brisbane. What This made no sense.

He then texted us saying if we could stay somewhere else becuase he wanted to go to sleep, I said we couldn't, so he had no choice but to wait for us to arrive.

So did he need to go to Brisbane or go to sleep? Which is it?

Once we arrived at the motel, he charged us $95. I questioned him that we had agreed on the $89, he said "our rooms have never cost $89, its always been $95". This was a straight-up lie because online the rooms were $89 at that time.

At this point it was midnight and I wasn't going to argue as we needed a place to sleep, but I just found this extremely unprofessional and sleazy. He took advantage of our vulnerability and charged us an extra $6 which is robbery if he does this to everyone. Be cautious when booking with these guys, only stay here if youre absolutely desperate, and dont trust them when they say it is 24/7 because at any moment they could cancel your booking - or charge you extra - and leave you feeling vulnerable in the middle of nowhere.

Owners went to great lengths to resolve some of our difficulties, however some issues prevailed. We swapped rooms as TV remote didn't work in first room. TV in 2nd room was a Google TV. However it wasn't logged into a Google account so was effectively useless. WiFi details in 2ndcroom didn't work. Staff found an alternate that worked initially. However it constantly dropped out or disappeared entirely. Trying to stream to TV was impossible due to WiFi quality. Bathroom light switch was near door, furthest from bathroom. Bathroom sliding door was non functional. Privacy when going to toilet was compromised. It was also not well secured forcing me to remove bit and lean against wall. No surface or cupboard in bathroom to place items. Hotel is on outer edge of town.
