The hotel atmosphere is visually stunning at Ovolo - dark, cosy and vibey. The moment you walk in you will be drawn in by the unique designs along the wall, warm lighting and charming layout. The restaurant offers some amazing bites as well. We were lucky and got a fabulous hotel room. It was spacious, luxurious and well designed. Sleeping there felt very comfortble and we had a nice view of the lake. I would recommend Ovolo for your next Canberra stay.

5 stars rating for a 5 star experience!
Very funky styling and architectural design, we immediately fell in love when we walked in the building. Super cool, and even the room is the smallest type, it still feels comfortable and thoughtful in details.
Can’t resist the roughness accent adds in the interior of the hotel, artistic and stylish!

The Monster Restaurant was a good option to dine in as well!

The staffs are super friendly and helpful!

We had the best stay during Easter break at this unique hotel. The hotel, the staff and the service is top notch. Special mention to Mandeep at the Reception who made our check-in so smooth and special. We knew we were off to a good start. Also, would like to acknowledge Hriz's exceptional service at the breakfast, he was under the pump but kept a smile on his face. Loved their passion to make their guests stay truly memorable. The only thing we would have liked would be the parking, the fact that parking is so expensive, and adds up by quite a bit. We feel that it should be included in the price of the room for ease and convenience.

My partner and I had our wedding reception here and it was absolutely magical 😍 From the moment we viewed the Mosaic Room, we knew this is where we wanted to have our special celebration! The wedding packages are very flexible and tailored to your needs and wants, right down to the food that's served! We had complimentary menu tasting before our event to ensure the food was what we envisioned, which was great! The staff were also very flexible with the room/space, allowing us to set it up how we wanted. We stayed in the Meandering Atrium room, which one night was included in our wedding package, but we extended it to 2 nights. The room was absolutely amazing and we were extremely comfortable! It was so lovely to have such an awesome room to make the occasion feel extra special. We will definitely be returning to Ovolo Nishi for our future wedding anniversaries and staying a night or two to treat ourselves and relive the wonderful experience we had!

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was nice and the hotel was aesthetically pleasing. ||||The breakfast meals were delicious and we took the recommendation of staff to have the shakshuka -- which is the best shakshuka I've ever had. ||||It was a bit of a nuisance having to pay for separate parking but it seems all the hotels around there were in the same boat.

What can I say about this place, look it's a low score because of the following.
Room - the room was actually really nice however the layout was weird and it was overly dark with no extra lights to make it lighter. At times we had to use our phone camera lights.

Service - I felt like we were treated very much like second class citizens. We booked through booking.com and it just had a feel like that we weren't aloud to be there.

The Location is beautiful and perfectly placed.

Staff were rude.

Cost, even though we got a discount it was still overly expensive considering they actually don't have much in the hotel itself, they had a gym that was under standard and no pool.
We won't be back.

Stayed at Ovolo Nishi Canberra as part of a healing-catching up weekend, and the experience was beautiful overall. The room (Original Sun) had this cozy, forest-cabin-meets-5-star vibe—dark timber, premium touches, and a surprise view of the Parliament House which felt magical when we discovered it.

Throughout the hotel, the design sensibility is on point—industrial and artsy, but never cold. It is minimal, but with emotion. There’s this unspoken calm in the lighting, the scent, the materials. Everything felt crafted, not assembled. The staff matched that energy—kind, relaxed, not trying too hard, which made us feel equally at ease.

The staff were kind and thoughtful—we even received a handwritten card welcoming us for our honeymoon. These small gestures really elevated the stay. Room was well stocked with quality snacks and drinks (not free, but felt curated). Great design, peaceful vibe, and super comfy bed.

A couple of things to note: parking is through Wilson Car Park and needs to be bought separately—Ovolo charges extra for passes, so it is actually cheaper to pay directly at Wilson. Also, the bathroom had minor drainage issues post-shower, but nothing major.

We also ate downstairs on our first night—pasta for me, steak and fries for Gio. Tasted fine, nothing to write home about, and definitely a little on the pricey side. The restaurant feels like a cool add-on, not the main event.

Would I stay again? Maybe—if there’s a good deal. At full price, it feels a bit on the higher end. But the aesthetics, hospitality, and location inside the ANU precinct make it a lovely, memorable stay.

We regularly visit Canberra and decided to try a different place of stay. For a family of 4 with 2 small children, we booked a large deluxe apartment unit at this hotel. It is in a great location overlooking Lake Burley Griffin, close to many attractions. The building itself is unique and has an interesting green design. Even its interior is tastefully done with a lot of attention to character.||Upon check in, we discovered that the apartment units do NOT have any air conditioning. I have clearly overlooked this key fact during booking, as being in a room in summer on a day reaching 36'C without ac was going to be a huge challenge. Thankfully, the hotel reception staff was very accommodating and swiftly found two alternate adjoining rooms with ac! These rooms were however much smaller than the apartment unit and without kitchenette or fridge, which made it a challenge to entertain two small children.||The rooms were clean but a tad dated. The smart TVs were similarly dated, but they had built-in Chromecast, which was a big help.||We had booked breakfast, and it was a cooked one. The choices were very good with sufficient variety. Their continental plate was simply awesome.||One thing that stood out was its internal lighting, or shall we say lack of. From the elevator, to the corridors and the rooms themselves, it was dark. It was so dark that our elder child refused to enter the elevator first, which he always does anywhere else. They felt a bit creepy even in the room. Even at breakfast, there was a scarce of light.||Overall, this hotel may be a lot more suitable for grown-ups.
